Spiritually Speaking
You
are what you eat, a phrase spoken in the physical realm, and yet often
ignored in the spiritual, but one that can be the difference between being
strong or weak. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, so what you
allow into your spirit man, is what is going to come out of the mouth, the
tongue being an extension of the heart.
John
6:32-35 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses
gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true
bread from heaven. (33) For the bread of God is he which cometh down from
heaven, and giveth life unto the world. (34) Then said they unto him, Lord,
evermore give us this bread. (35) And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread
of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on
me shall never thirst. (KJV)
Jesus
Christ is the only true bread, which will feed and nourish our spirit man;
His word is spirit and it is life. But as we are about to find out, beware
of the false imitations, tainted bread full of mans additives, and like a
virus, can spread quickly if left unchecked.
Matthew
16:5-8 And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had
forgotten to take bread. (6) Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and
beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. (7) And they
reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread. (8)
Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why
reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread? (KJV)
The
key to a good healthy, spiritual diet, is taking the time to rightly divide
the word of truth, hearing the spiritual message that Christ is delivering
and not just looking at it from the physical point of view. The Lord spoke
in parables, and now it is up to you to exercise your spiritual eyes and
ears, so that you can understand the hidden meaning of the scriptures, and
feed the inner man.
Matthew
16:9-12 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the
five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? (10) Neither the seven
loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? (11) How is
it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread,
that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees? (12)
Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of
bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. (KJV)
When
we look at the verses from man’s point of view, leaning to our own
understanding, we will miss the message Christ intended us to hear, and relate
everything in the flesh. As we see above in the verses, the Lord was
warning them of the doctrine of the Pharisees, which is described as
hypocrisy, and not chastising them for not bringing bread. Take note also
of another meaning as well, it only took a short time for a few loaves and
fishes to spread amongst the crowd, and how quickly can a little false
doctrine spread like a wildfire as well, and distort the meaning of the
message.
Galatians
5:7-9 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the
truth? (8) This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you. (9) A little
leaven leaveneth the whole lump. (KJV)
Do
you want to be the one responsible for spreading false doctrine, and
allowing it to infect others in the body of Christ?
LEAVEN
Leaven
is used metaphorically in the Bible of an influence that can permeate
whatever it touches. Leaven is used as a symbol of either good or bad
influence. In one parable, Jesus used the word leaven in a good sense:
"The kingdom of heaven is like
leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal till it was
all leavened" <Matthew 13:33>. The action of the leaven in the
meal-- hidden, yet powerful, relentless, and pervasive-- is a symbol of the
growth of God's spiritual rule in the world.
On the other hand, Jesus also used
the word leaven in an evil sense to illustrate the "fermentation"
of moral and political corruption: "Take heed and beware of the leaven
[doctrine] of the Pharisees and the Sadducees" <Matthew 16:6,12>.

You
are what you eat so don’t settle for cheap, unhealthy alternatives.

Corinthians 5:6-8 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little
leaven leaveneth the whole lump? (7) Purge out therefore the old leaven,
that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our
passover is sacrificed for us: (8) Therefore let us keep the feast, not
with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with
the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. (KJV)
