Prophesying
Matthew 24:11 And many false prophets
shall rise, and shall deceive many. (KJV)
Strong’s definition for ‘prophets’:
5578 pseudoprophetes
(psyoo-dop-rof-ay'-tace); from 5571 and 4396; a spurious prophet, i.e. pretended
foreteller or religious impostor: KJV-- false prophet.
Thayer’s definition for ‘prophets’:
5578
pseudoprophetes-
1) one who,
acting the part of a divinely-inspired prophet, utters falsehoods under the
name of divine prophecies
You know, it doesn’t say a few of these
people are out and about, but it does say many. Again, ever wonder what
happens to the many that are called and yet few are chosen? In fact, to add
insult to injury not only are many speaking falsehoods but many, and that
would include God’s people, are falling for it as well. Many times because
of their lack of diligence in the Word; exercising their spiritual senses
so that they can tell the difference between right and wrong; they got lazy
and dull of hearing and fell for some so called prophet who promised
liberty, but delivered corruption.
Matthew 7:22-23 Many will say to me in
that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name
have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? (23) And
then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that
work iniquity. (KJV)
What!, you mean that guy in the three
piece suit that put his hands on my head and muttered a speech about what
was going to take place in my life down the road, the one who got the crowd
all stirred up and excited, may not have been the real deal? Well folks,
the odds are no, because the Bible says the many are not on our Lord’s
side, but rather just a few, a remnant that are really speaking the truth
in love, a love for God’s people and not their bank account. So what is
missing in the equation; what is it that I need to know; to know that it is
from God and not man trying to pretend he is one of His.
Matthew 7:24-25 Therefore whosoever
heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise
man, which built his house upon a rock: (25) And the rain descended, and
the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell
not: for it was founded upon a rock. (KJV)
How about some rock solid evidence,
something that will hold up in God’s realm, something that escapes man’s
limited thinking. Obviously there is a Rock missing from the equation,
something that had they built their faith and trust in, would have held up
and endured and not been blown away with every wind and flood of doctrine.
1 Corinthians 3:9-11 For we are labourers
together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. (10) According
to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have
laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take
heed how he buildeth thereupon. (11) For other foundation can no man lay
than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. (KJV)
There is a foundation that you can trust
in and know that it is of God, that being the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Those that preach and teach in His name are truly called of God and are
building His people up, while anything less will get blown away. The whole
reason God has called people to the ministry is so that they can teach the
people who they are in Christ and how to grow up in Him, which is who God
appointed the head of His church. So why do so many keep giving ear to all
these other loud mouth self appointed prophets who spend more time building
up their works and not pointing people to the completed work Jesus Christ
did on our behalf?
Ephesians 4:11-15 And he gave some,
apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and
teachers; (12) For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the
ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: (13) Till we all come in
the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a
perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: (14)
That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried
about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning
craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; (15) But speaking the
truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even
Christ: (KJV)
You know, this is what the Old Testament
prophets were prophesying about, and this is what the New Testament
prophets need to be speaking about, the knowledge of the Son of God; the
fullness and maturity God’s people should be teaching and preaching about,
which is Christ. It is not until you understand the fullness and truth that
is in Christ that you will ever be able to grow and mature, otherwise you
will be like a bunch of children falling for a bunch of fairy tales and
doctrines of man. The truth is in Christ, and only that truth will set you
free to walk in the liberty God intended for His people to walk in so that
you don’t end up like the many that don’t have a firm foundation and fall
into the quicksand of this world.
1 Peter 1:10-13 Of which salvation the
prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace
that should come unto you: (11) Searching what, or what manner of time the
Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified
beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. (12)
Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did
minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have
preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven;
which things the angels desire to look into. (13) Wherefore gird up the
loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to
be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; (KJV)
What else are you looking for Church?
With all that has been done and provided for us by God through His Son
Jesus Christ, is there any excuse for you to end up like the many, a bunch
of dumb unsuspecting sheep headed for a slaughter? All that God intended
for His people is provided in the revelation of Jesus Christ so that you
can know for yourself how to walk the same path that He did which leads to
eternal life. If any man has not the Spirit of Christ and a working
knowledge of the Son of God then they are none of God’s, but rather they fall
under the category of a false prophet, one you don’t want to give ear to.
