One And Only
Ephesians 4:4-6 There is one body, and
one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; (5) One Lord,
one faith, one baptism, (6) One God and Father of all, who is above all,
and through all, and in you all. (KJV)
Who’s number one? Well, many make the
claim that they are, but as we see in the above verses God is still the
One. If you notice in the above verses, that you don’t see an ‘s’ behind
any of the statements being made, but rather they are singular. Today we
will look at the word ‘faith’; which if one does a study throughout their
Bible they will not find the word ‘faiths’ anywhere in it. Mankind has
added that to their vocabulary, changing or should I say adding to the Word
by claiming there are different faiths, and going so far as to say that
they all lead to the same place. Well that is partially true, because if
someone chooses to add to the Word of God using phrases like faiths, then
yes all those other ones do lead to the same place, however it is not the
place God intended for them to end up in.
Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not
justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even
we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith
of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law
shall no flesh be justified. (KJV)
So what is that one faith Paul wrote
about in Ephesians? Well according to the Word it can only be by the faith
of Jesus Christ, and by that faith we are justified as well. Being the fact
that Jesus Christ walked this earth, lived a life without sin, and was
seated at the right hand of the Father, who would have been more qualified
to be our ‘One’ mediator? Yet with that simple fact in mind, where did all
these other so called ‘faiths’ come from?
1 Timothy 4:1-2 Now the Spirit speaketh
expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving
heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; (2) Speaking lies in
hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; (KJV)
Seducing spirits, doctrines of demons, so
what started out as one Lord and one faith, has had added to it a few
twists and turns from singular to plural, adding to the Word things that
were not intended to be added on. Some depart from the faith; faith our
ability to hear the message of God through Christ and then follow through
in deed and in truth with what He is asking of us. God in all His loving
wisdom and by His merciful grace is willing to present each and every
believer in Christ a personal message of deliverance, and show us where He
would have us to operate in His body of believers. Is it any wonder why the
enemy would do all he can to distort this message, and get you to buy into
an alternate plan of salvation, one that promises liberty but in the end
delivers corruption?
Romans 3:3-4 For what if some did not
believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? (4) God
forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That
thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou
art judged. (KJV)
When you see the term ‘faiths’ used by
many religious organizations does that raise a red flag with you, or are
you complacent like many others who embrace the lie rather than reprove it?
What you will see as you get deeper in your walk with the Lord and hold to
the truth, is how many have departed from the faith holding man to be true
and telling God He is the liar. That is why it is vital to know that the
voice that you are listening to is from above, and that the doctrine you
hold to lines up with the Word of God and not some denominational label man
puts on it.
2 Timothy 3:8-10 Now as Jannes and
Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt
minds, reprobate concerning the faith. (9) But they shall proceed no
further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.
(10) But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith,
longsuffering, charity, patience, (KJV)
When reading in the Old Testament you
will see as God spoke that there is nothing new under the sun. When Moses
came before Pharaoh to present the truth the devil and his workers were
right there as well presenting a false version of it, trying to imitate
what the Lord was doing on behalf of His people. Paul also experienced the
same things in his walk, finding out that the more he presented the truth
the more the enemy tried to discredit it. Take note of verse 10 also,
because as we see once again, when making reference to the word doctrine
and faith, we see that it is singular, and not plural. The question for
today is, is the doctrine that you hold to singular or does it have a few
twists and turns in it as well, a few additives that were put in by the
enemy and not the Lord? Remember, when making reference to the Lord
concerning faith, according to the Word of God it can only be by and
through Jesus Christ, the One and Only.
