Just Passing Through
Psalms 24:1-4 The earth is the LORD's,
and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. (2) For he
hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods. (3) Who
shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy
place? (4) He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted
up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. (KJV)
Before you get worked up or entangled in
the affairs of this life take a short time out and think about the fact, of
how long we are really here on this earth and what really caused our
existence in the first place. Did you ever stop and realize that everything
you eat or drink, the clothing that you wear, the air you breathe, all came
from the Lord? In fact let’s take it a step farther, this place we reside
in, planet earth, is the Lord’s as well; we have been invited to spend some
time here for a season, and then eternity kicks in. The car you drive, and
the road you drove it on, it’s all the Lord’s, we are just visitors here on
His planet and someday we will all have to give a personal account of what
we did while we were here. The fact is that everything we have, food,
shelter, clothing, electricity, running water, all came through the
foreknowledge of God so that we could live comfortably on His planet and
enjoy the life He has given us. If one was truly able to keep these things
in mind and heart, do you think we would complain as much as we do at
times?
Psalms 96:11-13 Let the heavens rejoice,
and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof. (12)
Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees
of the wood rejoice (13) Before the LORD: for he cometh, for he cometh to
judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the
people with his truth. (KJV)
Actually, if you really think about it,
aren’t we the bold and arrogant ones at times, the way we take so many
things for granted and then blame the Creator for the mishaps we bring upon
ourselves? If someone invited you to stay at their house, or gave you
access to their car, or anything else of value, you would be grateful and
indebted to their generosity. In fact you may even desire to return the
favor in some way, just to let them know how much it is appreciated. Yet
with this in mind, does our Lord really get the credit that is due Him? Or
is it more of a ‘what have you done for me lately’, with people jumping
ship like they did in the gospels, one week giving homage to Him as their
king and a week later demanding his crucifixion.
Proverbs 16:2-5 All the ways of a man are
clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits. (3) Commit thy
works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. (4) The LORD
hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
(5) Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though
hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. (KJV)
What a longsuffering God to endure the
vessels fitted for wrath so that He could give you access to His kingdom by
His love and mercy. Again, if you were invited by someone and given food,
clothing, and a place to live as well as a plan that would allow you to
have a blessed life, would you complain and nitpick every little detail or
would you truly be appreciative of the loving gesture that was shown to
you? What if everyone on this earth realized that this is the Lord’s and
only took what they needed, and were content with what He provided, do you
think we would have all the strife and contention we see in this world
today, let alone the wars? Imagine this, people fighting and killing God’s
creation so that they can have more control over the things that take place
on this earth, which apparently they think is now theirs, and not the
Lord’s, wow.
Romans 14:7-8 For none of us liveth to
himself, and no man dieth to himself. (8) For whether we live, we live unto
the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live
therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. (KJV)
Williams New Testament translation
of Romans 14:7-8:
7.
For none of us can live alone by himself, and none of us can die
alone by himself; 8. indeed, if we live, we always live in relation to the
Lord, and if we die, we always die in relation to the Lord. So whether we live or die we belong to
the Lord.
You know, it doesn’t matter what people
call themselves or the labels they take on, even those that claim to be
atheists, in the end, even they are going to find out that they are still
the Lord’s and will have to give a personal account of their lives to Him.
So whether you choose to live by faith unto the Lord, or die in sin and
unbelief, everything we see and don’t see was created by the Lord, and for
His pleasure it was created. We are here by the will of God and have been
given a perfect opportunity to partake of His plan of salvation, and
continue with Him from the temporal realm into His eternal one, it is your
choice. So no matter what choice you make, good or bad, you are still
accountable to the Lord and will have to stand before Him personally and
explain why you either accepted or rejected His plan of salvation.
Revelation 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord,
to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things,
and for thy pleasure they are and were created. (KJV)
One of those things the Lord created for
His pleasure was you, now the question is ‘will you do those things that
are pleasing in His sight, or will you choose to live unto yourself and
bring shame and dishonor to Him’? If you really kept in mind what our Lord
has done on our behalf, and the fact that this is His earth, His universe
actually, and that we are just passing through here for a short time, do
you think you would do and say the things that you do at times?
Psalms 150:1-6 Praise ye the LORD. Praise
God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. (2) Praise
him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
(3) Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery
and harp. (4) Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with
stringed instruments and organs. (5) Praise him upon the loud cymbals:
praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. (6) Let every thing that hath
breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD. (KJV)
With every breath of life that was given
us from the Lord, and continues to be given from above, with all that we have
been blessed with, with all that we could praise Him for in a day, is there
really anything we can complain about or even think to criticize Him for?
Remember, you are just passing through this realm, this time on earth, so
use it wisely if you desire to continue with our Lord into His eternal
realm.
