I Know For Sure

1 John 5:18-20 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. (19) And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness. (20) And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. (KJV)

We began this week talking about letting God be true, even to the point of every man a liar, which as we see in verse 19 is the case until they come into agreement with the truth. According to the outward the deck is stacked, the whole world and every man would seem to make a majority, however to those that have a working knowledge of Christ they know that if God be for them then who can be against them. Many people come to the Lord and make a commitment, actually tasting and partaking of His goodness for a season, only to fall away because of their lack of knowledge, which is their lack of knowing the things of the Spirit. We know, we know, we know, seems to be the point our Lord is making in these verses, something we need to know for ourselves so that we can eliminate any doubts or gray areas of our walk. The Son of God is come, now faith is, now is the accepted time to hear the truth, the mystery of God which is hid in Christ readily revealed to His people, comparing spiritual things with spiritual people so that you can know and not have to guess or just hope any longer.

2 Corinthians 4:3-6 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: (4) In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. (5) For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. (6) For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. (KJV)

Strong’s definition for ‘knowledge’:

1108  gnosis (gno'-sis); from 1097; knowing (the act), i.e. (by implication) knowledge:

KJV-- knowledge, science.

With all that God has provided and has done on behalf of all mankind, is there really any excuse for not knowing God and His plan of salvation, as well as His Son and our one mediator, Jesus Christ? Sound too simple? Well that is what is missed by the many who still choose the dark instead of the light. It takes a spiritual man, Christ, to shine a spiritual light into our heart so that we can come to a working knowledge of who we are in Him and no longer walk in darkness, going blind. The knowledge of God is available to each and every believer so that someday when they stand before God they won’t be making statements like ‘haven’t we prophesied in your name, or cast out devils, or done so many wonderful works’? For those that know who they are in Christ and have taken their place in His body of believers, they will be able to stand before God having the question marks eliminated knowing they have done all to stand in the knowledge given for their benefit. Instead of hearing depart from me I never knew you, one needs to know that God is saying ‘well done good and faithful servant, enter into my eternal realm of joy and peace’.

Ephesians 3:17-19 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, (18) May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; (19) And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. (KJV)

You’re so full of it! Yes, thank you, it is God’s desire to fill us with His fullness so that we can know the things that go past, far and above our carnal thinking. Remember going to grandma’s house when you were younger and it was meal time? Did grandma skimp on the meal or did she feed you to the fullest until you could take no more. Our Lord would like to see His people gorge themselves in the things of His realm so that they could grow up and mature in Christ and operate in a realm so much higher than this fallen one. What do you know, this Christian stuff actually works? Yes it does, but only by faith, hearing the message God is delivering through His Son then following through with what He is asking of you. The more you know of His realm letting Him and His spirit have a bigger influence on you, the more the doubts and confusion, the fears of this unstable realm dissipate and fall away.

1 Corinthians 8:1-3 Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth. (2) And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know. (3) But if any man love God, the same is known of him. (KJV)

A lot of people, a lot of organizations, so called faiths, will tell you about God, but they don’t know Him personally or the inner workings of His realm. Kind of like watching all these medical dramas on TV where the people dress up and portray doctors, but in reality they don’t have a clue how to save a life. Basically all they do is read a script, portray someone they are not, and put on a good show. The reality though is that in a life or death situation these people wouldn’t know what to do. There is only one physician who can bring healing to the inner man in all of us; and without a knowledge of who that is we will end up on life support, ready to perish.

1 John 3:23-24 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. (24) And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. (KJV)

Remember in the Old Testament they were given the 10 commandments, and what happened if they disobeyed? Well in the New Testament we have a simple commandment to follow, one that can result in a blessing for those that follow it. The Lord would have all men to be saved so that none would perish, by coming to a working knowledge of the Son of God and believing in His name. Do you know for sure what that name is, the complete name that gives us the complete answer? No not just Jesus, Jesus Christ, the complete answer that allows us to operate in the fullness of God. Quit looking to the outward or to man to find your answer, especially when we are warned that every man is a liar until they come into agreement with God. Rather look to that Spirit which abides in you to find that assurance and knowledge of the Son of God, Christ in you the hope of glory.
