All You Need Is Love
1 Corinthians 13:4-5 Charity suffereth
long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not
puffed up, (5) Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not
easily provoked, thinketh no evil; (KJV)
Williams New Testament translation
of 1Corinthians 13:4-5:
4. Love is so patient and so kind; love
never boils with jealousy; it never boasts, is never puffed with pride; 5.
It does not act with rudeness, or insist upon its rights; it never gets
provoked, it never harbors evil thoughts;
All you need is love; yes, can you hear
that old song playing again; you know the one that was such a big hit? Well
it’s true, except the love that is needed is of God, the one that is
eternal and not the temporal one man sings about which is subject to
change. As we see in the above verses, that the love of God contradicts
what we have learned from our past, a life that was ruled by emotions and
lusts is now replaced by a love based on Spirit and truth. Just because you
got mad doesn’t mean you react in the flesh, but rather as verse 4 says,
you need to be patient and respond in the Spirit. And some of the
testimonies I hear from some of these so called prophets and pastors, all
these boastings and puffed up egos about all the works they claim they are
doing for the Lord and literally making it sound like God takes orders from
them and He couldn’t function without them, gets old fast. I want to hear
what the Lord is doing and not man, because I know when the Lord does or
speaks a word it has substance and will endure, while all these other
legends in their own minds will fade away.
Williams New Testament translation
of Galatians 5:19-21:
19. Now the practices of the lower nature
are clear enough: Sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20. idolatry,
sorcery, enmity, quarreling, jealousy, anger, intrigues, dissensions,
party-spirit, 21. envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I now warn you, as I have done before,
that those who practice such things shall not be heirs of the kingdom of
God.
In fact some of these people I have
listened to in the past, giving their testimonies about what they claim
they are doing for the Lord sound just like a bunch of loud mouth drunks in
a bar, the more diluted they get the more the truth is stretched and
fabricated beyond belief. As we see in the above verses there is definitely
a big difference between the lower fallen nature of man and the love of God
that He would like us to experience. In fact many times people mistake love
for another word, lust, and end up with a cheap imitation instead of the
real deal.
Matthew 24:11-12 And many false prophets
shall rise, and shall deceive many. (12) And because iniquity shall abound,
the love of many shall wax cold. (KJV)
Instead of building the people up in the
love of God and teaching them who they are in Christ, many have fallen into
the realm of lust, seeking their own personal desires over the love of God.
For many, what started out as a love for the Lord was drowned out with a
love for the world and the things of it. The more they fall back into the
realm of the flesh the more perverse and distorted the message becomes that
they preach, seeking rather to justify their lower natures instead of overcoming
them.
Proverbs 6:16-19 These six things doth
the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: (17) A proud look, a
lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, (18) An heart that
deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, (19)
A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among
brethren. (KJV)
Here is another example of what manifests
when the love of God waxes cold. As we see in the above verses, the hits
just keep on coming, all of which leads to separation from God.
Luke 11:24-26 When the unclean spirit is
gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding
none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. (25) And
when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. (26) Then goeth he, and
taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter
in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the
first. (KJV)
Here is another tidbit to chew on, when
an unclean spirit is cast out and a person gets their house in order, the
enemy will return to see if it is still in order. If the enemy finds an
opening, then he invites seven other spirits over for a house warming
party. If you have ever wondered how those seven other spirits manifest in
a person’s life just go back to the above verses in Proverbs and you will
see clearly how it manifests. So people, it is very important that once you
have experienced the love of God and allowed His love into your heart that
you keep that house maintained so the enemy doesn’t return and drown out
that love that was shed abroad in your heart.
2 Peter 2:20-22 For if after they have
escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and
Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the
latter end is worse with them than the beginning. (21) For it had been
better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after
they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
(22) But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is
turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing
in the mire. (KJV)
Have you ever wondered why the latter end
is worse than the beginning? Because once you have accepted the love of God
into your heart it casts out all fear, and then you now become a target of
the enemy, who then goes and gets reinforcements and tries to pull you back
into the realm of the flesh; if then your love for the Lord has waxed a bit
cooler, and you start looking elsewhere for an answer, the enemy is more
than willing to take up residence again with seven of his buddies to boot.
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the
Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, (23)
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. (KJV)
The Bible says, that we should be
honoring the Lord with the first fruits of all our increase, and that
should be love. While many claim it should be money; which tells you where
their treasure is and why they have waxed cold, letting their love for
money have more of an influence than a love for God. All you need is love,
the love of God that will allow you to be a partaker of His divine nature.
Once you have received this love then go give some of it out to His people;
remember you can’t keep it unless you give it away.
