A Well Known Person
Galatians 4:8-11 Howbeit then, when ye
knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods. (9) But
now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye
again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in
bondage? (10) Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. (11) I am
afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain. (KJV)
There are many in this world that claim that
they know God; the truth be known, how many of them does God know? Or
another way of putting it, how well known are you to our Lord, or are you
unknown even though you may be well known in this world, especially with
worldly people. Once you come to the Lord, in order to maintain a healthy
relationship one needs to stay in contact with Him, and now seek a life
that is pleasing to Him and not based on self any longer. How many people
did you know when you were younger, but now you don’t remember them because
you haven’t been in contact with them for a long time? Well it’s not so
much our Lord has a short memory but rather has blotted out sin, as well as
those that choose to return to the fallen realm of sin.
Hebrews 10:16-17 This is the covenant
that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my
laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; (17) And
their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. (KJV)
God not only forgives the sin, but
forgets as well. Keep in mind though, that if the sin is forgotten and no
more remembered then that would include the sinner that turned away from
the truth and back to the fallen realm as well, and is no longer known of
God. Remember the Lord said He is a God of the living and not the dead; so
if someone is living in the realm of the dead which is sin then they are no
longer known of God.
Ezekiel 33:13 When I shall say to the
righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness,
and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but
for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it. (KJV)
Many people begin in the Spirit and then
think they can perfect their walk with the Lord in the flesh, or according
to their own self righteousness. Even though you may have walked with the
Lord for a season it is important that you abide in Him so that you can
endure to the end, otherwise come the day of judgment it will be like the
old tuna commercial, “sorry Charlie”. When I see so called Christians still
observing days, or weeks, or other times they claim are holy (again like
the one that comes up on December 25th), it shows me that those
that turn to the weak elements of this world are weak and lame themselves
spiritually.
Matthew 7:21-23 Not every one that saith
unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that
doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. (22) Many will say to me in
that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name
have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? (23) And
then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that
work iniquity. (KJV)
At first glance it would appear that
these people in Matthew knew God, or at least they thought they did, the
problem is they were no longer known of Him were they? God requires His
people to worship Him in Spirit and in truth, so obviously somewhere along
the line the communication was severed and the spiritual part was no longer
taking place, was it? Being the fact that God is a Spirit and doesn’t
change, it wasn’t on His end either.
Ezekiel 33:17-20 Yet the children of thy
people say, The way of the Lord is not equal: but as for them, their way is
not equal. (18) When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and
committeth iniquity, he shall even die thereby. (19) But if the wicked turn
from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live
thereby. (20) Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. O ye house of
Israel, I will judge you every one after his ways. (KJV)
Sounds like the same thing that happened
in Matthew; all these people thought they were so right on, only to find
out they were left out. Then to add insult to injury, they try to blame God
and tell Him He is unfair; yikes! Once you make a commitment to the Lord
you need to follow through with it to the end, or it will be the end to
those that think they know better than God.
Luke 13:24-28 Strive to enter in at the
strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not
be able. (25) When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut
to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door,
saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I
know you not whence ye are: (26) Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten
and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. (27) But he
shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye
workers of iniquity. (28) There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth,
when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in
the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. (KJV)
Please take note of the word ‘many’;
because before you go jumping on a popular bandwagon because many others
choose to, make sure you know where it is heading. It doesn’t matter that a
person claims to know God, what is the most important part of the equation
is the fact that He knows you. Another way of looking at it is, the more
you walk in the Spirit the more you will be like Him and able to do those
things that are pleasing in His sight.
John 10:27-28 My sheep hear my voice, and
I know them, and they follow me: (28) And I give unto them eternal life;
and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my
hand. (KJV)
I have had many fuss and whine about the
once saved always saved doctrine, that you can’t lose your salvation,
because verse 28 says no man will pluck them out of His hand. Well that’s
fine and dandy, except for that to happen, those three things in verse 27
need to be taking place, or they will be like the many that follow a
stranger’s voice. Do take note again that the Lord needs to know them
personally in order for them to truly be one of His.
2 Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless the
foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them
that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from
iniquity. (KJV)
Those that know the name of Christ have
departed from iniquity rather than have the Lord tell them to depart
because of it. Do you know the name that is above all names, the one name
given under heaven whereby we are saved? If you don’t know His name, then
He won’t know your name either. And what should have been a well known
person in the kingdom of God will end up unknown and orphaned for eternity.
