A Heavenly Register

Romans 6:8-11 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: (9) Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. (10) For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. (11) Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. (KJV)

Do you desire to live in the Spirit? Then you need to die to this worldly realm and the influences of it. You wonder at times why you have a hard time believing in the word of God; well it’s because of unbelief, spending too much time and effort thinking on those things which are of the world and not giving heed to things above. The more you become dead to sin, the more the word of God becomes alive and real to you so that you can stay put in His realm, and not fall for the cheap imitations of the fallen one.

Luke 10:19-20 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (20) Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. (KJV)

Luke 10:20

[Names are written in heaven] The names of citizens of a city or state were accustomed to be written in a book or register, from which they were blotted out when they became unworthy, or forfeited the favor of their country. That their "names were written in heaven," means that they were "citizens" of heaven; that they were friends of God and "approved" by him, and would be permitted to dwell with him. This was of far more value than all "earthly" honor, power, or wealth, and "in" this people should rejoice more than in eminent endowments of influence, learning, talents, or possessions. (from Barnes' Notes)

It is the grace of God through faith that allowed you access into His kingdom and not your works that keep your name written in His heavenly register. Salvation is a gift God gave to mankind so that they could be partakers of His inheritance again and no longer have to live in a fallen realm. When you entered into God’s kingdom and agreed to His terms and conditions your name was then written in the Lamb’s book of life. However in order stay on good terms with the Lord and keep your name intact you need to leave your old fallen nature at the door in order to enter His realm and stay there as well. They that are in the flesh, and that does include believers, those that revert back cannot please God; and just like with the example we see above, they can forfeit their favor and citizenship with God and have their name blotted out. Salvation is a gift, and should be appreciated and treated as such, not put on shelf and dragged out once a week or during man’s holidays. Just like the freedom we have in this country, people died and gave up their lives so that we could have the freedom that we do. So for those that come here from other countries they realize that they can become citizens and stay in this country, but if they break the law they can forfeit their passport and be deported and erased from the register.

Revelation 3:5-6 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. (6) He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. (KJV)

Strong’s definition for ‘overcome’:

3528  nikao (nik-ah'-o); from 3529; to subdue (literally or figuratively):

KJV-- conquer, overcome, prevail, get the victory.

The Lord has given us the power to tread on serpents, which if you remember in the beginning in the book of Genesis is how the enemy is described. Christ is the power and wisdom of God, which we as believers have access too, so that we can be overcomers and not underachievers. We as believers should be triumphing over the enemy, knowing we have the victory in Christ, and not the other way around like a bunch of sheep acting like they are headed to the slaughter. As long as you stay in the Spirit, walking by faith, you will not fall back into the realm of the flesh which can lead to lust, and when that is conceived can lead to death, separation from God. That same spiritual pen that wrote your name in the Lamb’s book of life has an eraser attached to it as well, which is what the word ‘blot’ means, to erase, smear out, even obliterate. I don’t care how many sinners’ prayers you have recited, or how many revival services you attend, unless you know the doctrine of Christ for yourself and become rooted and grounded in it you will be the one getting tread on like a doormat, and not the enemy.

Matthew 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. (22) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? (23) And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (KJV)

Remember the verse, ‘many are called but few are chosen’. The few are chosen because they chose to walk in the Spirit and no longer fulfill the lust of their flesh. Oh yeah people, you may have made a commitment with the Lord and walked with Him for a season, but unless you made it a way of life you will find out like the many, that their name was no longer written in the Lamb’s book of life, but somewhere along the line they were deceived and forfeited their heavenly inheritance.

Exodus 32:33-34 And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book. (34) Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them. (KJV)

Once again we see God’s people being blotted out and erased because of sin. And just like we saw with the verses in Matthew, it involved many. God had a perfect plan for His people to get from Egypt to the promised land, from bondage into liberty, but along the way they forgot what was given to them and fell for a cheap imitation. You have been given access to the kingdom of God through the gift of the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ so that your citizenship could be in heaven and no longer bound by this fallen realm. Salvation is a gift, and your name was written in His book; now the question is, have you done what it takes to keep your name intact, or have you fallen back into the realm of unbelief and forfeited your inheritance?
