A Better Way
Hebrews 7:19 For the law made nothing
perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw
nigh unto God. (KJV)
If you were planning on traveling from
one side of the country to the other you would probably get a map and try
to find the best route. If you got hold of a map, say one that was made up
in the 60’s, you would find it outdated, in other words unable to give you
an accurate account of how to get to your destination. Today there are maps
available that can give you an up-to-date account of the best routes to
travel, even to the point of how to avoid slowdowns or congestions. Also
keep in mind, that in the 60’s they didn’t have freeways, so their maps
wouldn’t be able to show you the freeway to get across country. The same
holds true spiritually, the old law is outdated, replaced with a better
way, a freeway to the throne of God to eliminate the congestion and
hardships so that we can have direct access to the kingdom of God in a
simple free way the Lord provided.
Hebrews 6:1-3 Therefore leaving the
principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not
laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith
toward God, (2) Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and
of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. (3) And this will we
do, if God permit. (KJV)
You know, God did permit; He made a way
of escape from the bondage of this fallen realm, a freeway out of here. God
has done all that was needed for us to travel on this path that leads to
His eternal reward. The question is, are you on that path? By taking the
time on a daily basis, studying your spiritual map, you will be able to
operate and move along on a freeway rather than following some back roads
that are full of detours and dead ends.
John 8:31-32 Then said Jesus to those
Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my
disciples indeed; (32) And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall
make you free. (KJV)
The reason the writer of Hebrews used the
term if God permit, is the same reason our Lord made this statement as
well, if you continue in my word. The freedom and liberty is available to
those in Christ; the question is ‘will you take the time to get to know the
truth and continue in it’? The Lord was bringing a better hope a better way
to the believers, simple truth would be another way of describing it, to
eliminate all the old laws and rituals of the past. The freeway is open,
the Lord has already gone ahead of us to give us simple directions to a
heavenly place; are you following Him?
John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make
you free, ye shall be free indeed. (KJV)
The only true liberty that one will ever
find is in Christ; setting us free from the inside, strengthening our inner
man. Unless one knows for themselves the truth then they will not be set
free, but rather will still be in bondage to sin; still traveling a road to
nowhere, a dead end with dead results.
Colossians 1:27-29 To whom God would make
known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles;
which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: (28) Whom we preach, warning
every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every
man perfect in Christ Jesus: (29) Whereunto I also labour, striving
according to his working, which worketh in me mightily. (KJV)
Talk about a conversion, Paul of all
people was about as zealous as they get; one who was well versed in the old
law. In conclusion, he realized that the true hope was within him, that
being Christ who was working in him mightily. This hope of glory is
described as a mystery because the map and the way to heaven is now in the
realm of the Spirit which is hidden to carnal people but readily revealed
to Spiritual people. The perfection comes in all wisdom, not the wisdom of
this world, but all the treasures of Spiritual wisdom and knowledge which
can only be found in Christ by those that look beyond the realm of the
flesh. So have you tapped into this source so that you can travel on His
freeway, or are you broken down on the side of some darkened trail and
unsure of where you are headed? Your only hope of glory, of perfection and
maturity, will be found in Christ, nothing else, no dead works of a dead
law, only in the living word of God which should be alive and well in you,
leading and guiding you this day.
1 Corinthians 13:10-11 But when that
which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
(11) When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I
thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
(KJV)
Someone has come so that we could have a
complete understanding of the workings of God and no longer operate in a
partial realm, clouded and distorted by our carnal thinking. Those things
which were in part are done away, which includes dead works of the law, so
that we could grow up and mature in Christ by putting away childish things
and not still hanging on to them.
Colossians 1:3-6 We give thanks to God
and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, (4) Since
we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to
all the saints, (5) For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven,
whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; (6) Which
is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as
it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of
God in truth: (KJV)
Your only hope of glory is located in the
heavenly realm, seated at the right hand of God and ready to give you His
message of truth that will bring forth Spiritual fruit. Your hope of
maturing and growing in the Lord should no longer be based on works, things
that are seen, but rather things that are not seen, but are eternal. There
is definitely a better more complete way to serve our Lord, that being in
Spirit and in truth; and those are the people God is seeking, those who
desire to partake of His kingdom.
Romans 15:13-14 Now the God of hope fill
you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope,
through the power of the Holy Ghost. (14) And I myself also am persuaded of
you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all
knowledge, able also to admonish one another. (KJV)
There is such a better way available to
all believers, one that will give you all the peace and joy of God, not
just some partial hit or miss experiences. For those who know the truth in
Christ, they will be able to build up and admonish others by pointing them
to the freedom and liberty in Christ, the freeway if you would, and would
not have them traveling some old outdated road that was torn down and replaced.
So which map are you following today and who is the author of it? Anything
or anyone else other than Christ will not get you where you need to be in
Him. Christ is a better way.
