The Pursuit Of Peace
Galatians 1:15-16 But when it pleased
God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, (16)
To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen;
immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: (KJV)
You know, when you let go of old things,
and walk in the newness of life that our Lord intended for His people, you
will find that this is the only place where you will find any peace, or the
peace of God. When you really stop and think about it, isn’t that what
everyone is looking for, that peace? So now that you have found peace in
your life will you continue in the realm that you found it in, or will you
try to return to the old, thinking that it will bring peace?
2 Timothy 2:15-16 Study to shew thyself
approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly
dividing the word of truth. (16) But shun profane and vain babblings: for
they will increase unto more ungodliness. (KJV)
Rightly dividing means to dissect, or
make a straight cut. What the word of God (which is sharper than any two
edged sword) does is it cuts off strongholds, spiritual things, like a
leach that has attached itself to us without us knowing it. Old things are
passed away, because you take the time in the Word daily so that you can
renew your mind in the peaceable things of God, the good news that builds
one up and makes them strong.
Psalms 34:14-16 Depart from evil, and do
good; seek peace, and pursue it. (15) The eyes of the LORD are upon the
righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. (16) The face of the LORD
is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the
earth. (KJV)
Your new life in Christ now involves a
pursuit of peace, letting the peace of God rule and dictate in all your
decisions that you make from this point forward. One way or the other,
negative evil things will be cut out of your life, the choice is, will you
let the Lord cut them off, or will you still be attached to those things
when the Lord cuts them off eternally? If something is not bringing peace
to your walk and is not uplifting, it is time to cut it off and discard any
dead weight so that you can continue partaking of the peaceable fruit of
righteousness.
Philippians 4:7-9 And the peace of God,
which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through
Christ Jesus. (8) Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever
things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if
there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (9)
Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen
in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. (KJV)
If you notice the order, the peace of God
begins in the heart and not your head. Crunching numbers or looking down
the road at things will not bring peace to your heart today, because that
is not the realm that our Lord is in. However, by taking the time to study
the Word today, seeking first the kingdom of God and what His answer is,
will allow you to operate in the peace of God despite what the outward
tries to dictate as truth.
Psalms 131:1-2 LORD, my heart is not
haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great
matters, or in things too high for me. (2) Surely I have behaved and
quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as
a weaned child. (KJV)
Are you exercising your Spiritual senses
so that you can quiet yourself and bring peace within? Have you separated
yourself from the old way of living, cutting off any umbilical cords of the
flesh that you have been attached to in life? The more you wean yourself
from old things, the more successful you will be in your pursuit of peace.
