Many or Few
Matthew 22:11-14 And when the king came
in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding
garment: (12) And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not
having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. (13) Then said the king to
the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into
outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (14) For many
are called, but few are chosen. (KJV)
You know that guy we see depicted in the
above verses, yeah sad to say it is referring to the many, and not the few.
Someone trying to access the kingdom of God according to their own
righteousness is not what our Lord intended. Many are called of God, but in
the end so few truly answer the call, and fewer yet who will endure to the
end. Many answer the call for a season, but then get snared, pulled down
and entrapped again with the ways of man. Many spend more time trying to
please man and build up numbers instead of building up the people and
showing them who they are in Christ.
Galatians 3:1-3 O foolish Galatians, who
hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes
Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? (2) This
only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law,
or by the hearing of faith? (3) Are ye so foolish? having begun in the
Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? (KJV)
So where did your calling originate from
in the first place? Today, where was the first place that you looked to
find the answer, and your Spiritual instructions of where our Lord would
have you to operate? Folks, one of the biggest snares I see pulling down
many is that they begin in the Spirit and answer their calling for a season,
then they get caught up in man’s religion and way of thinking of how God
operates, basically putting Him in a box with denominational titles and
rituals, yuck.
Galatians 3:4-6 Have ye suffered so many
things in vain? if it be yet in vain. (5) He therefore that ministereth to
you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of
the law, or by the hearing of faith? (6) Even as Abraham believed God, and
it was accounted to him for righteousness. (KJV)
Oh you have to get ordained by man, and
you just won’t be effective unless you get man’s ordination papers and
titles. If mankind is so smart, why have they dreamed up so many different
faiths and denominations when our Lord is quite explicit in that there is
only one Lord and one faith? Did you happen to notice in verse 6 how
Abraham got His robe of righteousness? Yeah it was really that simple, by
believing God.
Acts 1:23-26 And they appointed two,
Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias. (24) And
they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men,
shew whether of these two thou hast chosen, (25) That he may take part of
this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that
he might go to his own place. (26) And they gave forth their lots; and the
lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles. (KJV)
The disciples were told to wait on the
Lord, and get their instructions from Him on how to proceed further, which
would take place once they received the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
However, before that time they decided who would replace Judas. Today there
are many who are not giving ear to the Spirit and their calling, but rather
are acting like the version we see above. By the way the Lord did have
someone in mind that He chose, do you know who that was?
Acts 9:15-16 But the Lord said unto him,
Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the
Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: (16) For I will shew him
how great things he must suffer for my name's sake. (KJV)
Talk about the last being first and the
first being last; the last one that the people would have thought to be
chosen of God ended up to be Saul, who was later known as Paul. The first
one God had chosen to be His spokesman was the last one that the people
thought of. Go figure.
