Make Sure

2 Peter 1:10-11 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: (11) For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. (KJV)

Strong’s definition for ‘election’:

1589  ekloge (ek-log-ay'); from 1586; (divine) selection (abstractly or concretely): KJV-- chosen, election.

Many people talk of an everlasting kingdom, a better place that someday they plan on going to. Many claim that their loved ones who have passed on are in that better place, based mostly on the fact that they were nice people, and didn’t hurt anyone. The reality is people, that before you are given access to this eternal destination you will have to answer your heavenly calling and election based on our Lord’s standards and not man’s fallen interpretations. This is what truly separates the many that were called, and yet in the end only a few are actually chosen and allowed access into the everlasting kingdom of God.

Ephesians 1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: (4) According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: (5) Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, (KJV)

Your Bible is very explicit to point out that without faith it is impossible to please God. Now stop and think about this point, your calling and election was planned out for you before the foundation of this world, long before you came along to analyze and make changes that you thought were necessary. Point being folks, given the fact that this calling came from above, someone who could determine the ending from the beginning, isn’t it time you turned things back over to Him and let Him direct your steps on the only path that leads to eternal life?

Proverbs 3:5-7 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. (6) In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (7) Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. (KJV)

The carnal mind is enmity with God and is not the realm that you will be able to answer your calling in. The more you can stay out of the flesh and its limited, fearing, doubting tunnel vision, the more you will step out in the place that our Lord decided was best for you to be walking in, a place that He saw before the founding of this world. Folks, this is something that we need to learn to take comfort in, letting God be true and man’s interpretations the lie.

Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? (36) As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. (37) Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. (38) For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, (39) Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (KJV)

Have you made your calling and election sure today? Do you know for yourself personally, that no one or nothing in this fallen realm is going to separate you from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord, the author and finisher of our faith? Hey after all, who better to be getting instructions from then one who has been there and done it, and is now seated at the right hand of God; someone who made sure.
