Divide and Conquer
Galatians 1:13-16 For ye have heard of my
conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I
persecuted the church of God, and wasted it: (14) And profited in the Jews'
religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly
zealous of the traditions of my fathers. (15) But when it pleased God, who
separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, (16) To
reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen;
immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: (KJV)
Now I am sure that we can all relate with
Paul’s experience, all we have to do is replace the Jew’s religion with
whatever we were brought up with in our youth. As you can see Paul was
quite indoctrinated and zealous in that religion, things that were based
more on tradition than fact. The fact is that our new life in Christ is one
of dividing, separating what is of man and what is the truth of God’s word
that sets us free. As we see, once Paul separated himself from this
spiritual umbilical cord that he was drawing life from, he was then able to
live a new life free from those carnal influences.
2 Corinthians 5:16-17 Wherefore
henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ
after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. (17) Therefore if
any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away;
behold, all things are become new. (KJV)
You know, our new life in Christ is one
of cutting and dividing, allowing the Word of God to cut off those
hindrances and negative influences of the flesh so that we could see and
walk in a newness of life. All of us came into salvation still attached to
things of this realm, and in some cases drawing our life from outward
carnal things, whether it be a job, any kind of addiction, or holding to
some significant other that we think will bring peace. But as you grow and
mature in the Lord you will find that any umbilical cord that is attached
to anything other than our Lord will need to be cut off spiritually,
surgically removed in order for you to move forward in your walk with God.
Hebrews 4:12-13 For the word of God is
quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to
the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and
is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (13) Neither is
there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are
naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. (KJV)
Calling Doctor Christ, we have a code
blue in the emergency room. Who better to have for a physician, your
personal doctor, other than Jesus Christ? The word of God is living,
powerful, and sharper than anything in this outward realm, cutting between
what is of the flesh and what is of God, the Spiritual. Are you going in
for your daily check-ups letting the Lord show you what is of Him and what
is of the world (you know like that old dead carnal traditional religion that
you used to think was truth but is based more on popular opinion)?
John 3:5-7 Jesus answered, Verily,
verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit,
he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. (6) That which is born of the
flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. (7) Marvel
not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. (KJV)
What’s the first thing that the doctor
did when you arrived in this realm? Well, after giving you a pat on the
backside, they cut the cord, and then you began your new life in this realm
learning to exercise your senses so that you could function. But do take
note of verse 6 which tells us that there is a difference between the flesh
and Spirit, two totally opposite realms. So for you to be complete, to be
able to divide and be more than a conqueror, you will have to learn to
exercise your Spiritual senses as well.
