Choosing The Foolish
1 Corinthians 1:26-29 For ye see your
calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many
mighty, not many noble, are called: (27) But God hath chosen the foolish
things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak
things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; (28) And base
things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea,
and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: (29) That no
flesh should glory in his presence. (KJV)
So you are not well thought of in the
world according to its standards? You’re not a real fluent speaker or some
well known personality, so how could God ever use me? Well, actually you
are a perfect candidate for our Lord, who looks at the inward and makes His
choice according to the heart and not our head.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 And he said unto
me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in
weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that
the power of Christ may rest upon me. (10) Therefore I take pleasure in
infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses
for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. (KJV)
You know, Paul was chosen of God and
wrote a good part of the epistles, having been inspired by our Lord. Do
take notice of where Paul found his strength, totally opposite of what we
have been taught all of our lives. You know the more you let go and let God
have His way, the more you will see His results as well. The more you stay
out of the way, well the more someone else can take over and have His way.
So where are you finding strength in your walk today; is it by your outward
abilities, or are you letting someone greater within take over?
Deuteronomy 7:6-7 For thou art an holy
people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a
special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the
earth. (7) The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because
ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all
people: (KJV)
Even God’s own chosen people were not
called by Him because of their outward abilities and big numbers, but
actually the opposite was true. Today many judge a so called church
successful by their numbers because they are growing and getting so large,
which is opposite of the Lord’s way of thinking. So how do you make
judgments and determinations; is it based on your outward sight, or have
you learned to rely more on insight, your Spiritual senses?
1 Peter 2:4-6 To whom coming, as unto a
living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, (5)
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood,
to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. (6) Wherefore
also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner
stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be
confounded. (KJV)
Talk about foolish, God sent His only Son
Jesus Christ so that we could put our trust in His rock, a stone that was
precious in His sight. So what does man do, they crucify what God said was
His answer for a fallen mankind. What do you think they are going to do to
the doctrine of truth you bring as well? So don’t expect ticker tape
parades, or standing ovations, well at least not here on earth, but let the
Lord be a rewarder for your diligence in finding your place in His body of
believers.
Isaiah 55:6-9 Seek ye the LORD while he
may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: (7) Let the wicked forsake
his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the
LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will
abundantly pardon. (8) For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are
your ways my ways, saith the LORD. (9) For as the heavens are higher than
the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your
thoughts. (KJV)
In conclusion this week, you will find that
your calling, your election, is not based on what many are doing; rather
you will be walking a path that is not heavily traveled. You will find that
the answer to your calling is not based on what you think, but rather
originated in a realm that is so much higher and above our way of thinking.
So go get on that path, and find the place that our Lord ordained for you
to walk in.
Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait
gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to
destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: (14) Because strait is
the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be
that find it. (KJV)
You may look foolish to the many, but
there are still a few who know where you are coming from and where you are
going to end up. God bless and keep the faith.
