Barren or Bearing?
John 15:1-3 I am the true vine, and my
Father is the husbandman. (2) Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he
taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it
may bring forth more fruit. (3) Now ye are clean through the word which I
have spoken unto you. (KJV)
The word of God is a living Word,
described as being sharper than any two edged sword, one that our Father
uses to prune His vine. In order to be a partaker of His divine nature you
will have to be giving ear to the evidence from above if you truly desire
to continue bearing the fruit of His Spirit.
Matthew 12:35-37 A good man out of the
good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out
of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. (36) But I say unto you,
That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof
in the day of judgment. (37) For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and
by thy words thou shalt be condemned. (KJV)
Strong’s definition for ‘idle’:
692
argos (ar-gos'); from 1 (as a negative particle) and 2041; inactive,
i.e. unemployed; (by implication) lazy, useless: KJV-- barren, idle, slow.
The definition for the word ‘idle’
accurately describes many who claim to be speaking on behalf of our Lord
but obviously are not getting their information and doctrine first hand
from Him. Those idle people that we see described in the above verses are
similar to a branch on a tree that is dried up and withering, something
that needs to be cut off. So what kind of doctrine are you giving ear to
today, is it a life giving one from above, or is it something that is
useless and inactive? Do take note of the fact of how important the words
are that you speak, because your eternal destination is riding on the fact
that you know that the testimony you are giving is coming from above.
James 2:20-22 But wilt thou know, O vain
man, that faith without works is dead? (21) Was not Abraham our father
justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? (22) Seest
thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
(KJV)
The word ‘dead’ in verse 20 is the same
as idle, inactive. Many people spend a lot of time hearing the Word but
they rarely, if ever, step out in what our Lord is asking of them. These
are the people that are what could be described as Spiritually unemployed,
people that stay in their carnal comfort zone. A life in Christ that should
be new, walking in a newness of life, is idle to those that do not step out
in faith and follow through with what our Lord is asking of them.
Matthew 20:5-7 Again he went out about
the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. (6) And about the eleventh hour
he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand
ye here all the day idle? (7) They say unto him, Because no man hath hired
us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is
right, that shall ye receive. (KJV)
You know, what we see described above
reminds me of many religious organizations where the people are more apt to
follow a person rather than the Lord. For you to grow and mature in the
Lord you will find that as you listen and receive the message first hand
from the Lord Himself, it is then that you will step out and do what He is
asking of you personally, finding your place in His body of believers.
2 Peter 1:5-9 And beside this, giving all
diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; (6) And to
knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience
godliness; (7) And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly
kindness charity. (8) For if these things be in you, and abound, they make
you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our
Lord Jesus Christ. (9) But he that lacketh these things is blind, and
cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old
sins. (KJV)
So which is it today Church; are you
bearing the fruit of the Spirit, or are you barren and withering away? Are
you still a part of vine, or should I say, Divine?
