Access By Faith
Romans 5:1-2 Therefore being justified by
faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: (2) By whom
also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice
in hope of the glory of God. (KJV)
You know, it’s not like we are doing God
some great favor and service just because we accepted His plan of
salvation, after all it was mankind who transgressed against God, not the
other way around. We now have access to the grace and forgiveness of our
Lord, so that we could go from a life of pleasing self, to one of pleasing
Him, which if carried out will lead to eternal life. It seems a lot of
people put more faith and trust in their own works, and not the completed
work that our Lord has done on our behalf, thus falling from grace.
Matthew 6:5-6 And when thou prayest, thou
shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the
synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men.
Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. (6) But thou, when thou
prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to
thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall
reward thee openly. (KJV)
I need to sound off a bit today
concerning an event that takes place every year in this country in the
month of May. We have those that claim to be Christians who have decided
that in order to be heard or make their prayers effective, they would
gather and do those things described in the above verses, labeling a
certain day a national day of prayer. Really, who are we trying to impress,
because it certainly isn’t going to be the Lord is it? I don’t know about
many others, but for myself I have come to the conclusion that if I seek to
please man and not God, well, that just puts me in the category of a
transgressor again. Oh, and then I hear these people that are organizing
these events brag about how they will defy any court order and go out in
public anyways. Well good for you, and while you are all standing around on
the street corners making a fool out of yourselves, remember there is a
supreme court above, so once you defy His order you are on your own pal.
Ephesians 6:18-20 Praying always with all
prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all
perseverance and supplication for all saints; (19) And for me, that
utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make
known the mystery of the gospel, (20) For which I am an ambassador in
bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. (KJV)
Another thing that I get a bit irked with
are those that get worked up and in a tizzy about prayer in school, and
those that oppose it. Since when do you need someone else’s approval for
where and when you pray? If you were really operating in the Spirit and not
the flesh, then you would know that you can pray anytime, anywhere, as well
as what to pray for effectively. Oh but alas, we see the difference between
those that God would choose to be ambassadors in Christ, and those that are
seeking the approval of man. If you were really seeking the approval of God
first, then you would be able to speak boldly, knowing who you are in
Christ as well as how to speak His word, which is Spirit and will bring
life to those that have ears to hear.
Proverbs 13:16-18 Every prudent man
dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly. (17) A wicked
messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health. (18) Poverty
and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth
reproof shall be honoured. (KJV)
So what is this national day of prayer
really? Well, I would say that the verses above give an accurate
description of those that think they will be heard for their much speaking,
as well as doing their self righteous acts before man. We have access by
faith into the grace of God which affords us this good health, which begins
in the Spirit, not the flesh. In closing today, if you are not sure what a
hypocrite really is, don’t bother looking in the dictionary for the answer,
rather just take a look at all those that show up on the street corners on
their national days of prayer if you truly desire an accurate description
of one.
