The Mainstream Of Life

Revelation 22:1-3 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. (2) In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. (3) And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: (KJV)

Did you know that you have access to this river today, right now? These waters are described as living waters, bringing life to those that partake of it. Actually this is a Spiritual river, and those that drink from this source will live forever. In fact old things are passed away (including the curse of the old law), and all things become new to those that partake of these waters. Have you ever seen an area where a river is running through it? Yeah, it is surrounded by new growth and life, abundant life in fact.

John 4:13-14 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: (14) But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. (KJV)

Hey isn’t it time that you took a drink from this river, and got yourself planted next to it as well so that you won’t be thirsting anymore. You know, once you get a taste of these waters, once you partake of something that really brings life and satisfies an inward thirst, you are able to see that everything else that you were drinking before this was a mirage, basically empty and lifeless.

Psalms 1:3-4 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. (4) The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. (KJV)

Hey aren’t you tired of things that don’t work; you know the things of this world that promise so much, but in the end deliver heartache, misery, and frustration? As we see illustrated in verse 4, those that are not in the mainstream of the living waters proceeding from the throne of God are dehydrating spiritually, drying up and being tossed to and fro with every wind of doctrine.

Jeremiah 17:7-8 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. (8) For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit. (KJV)

The word of God is living, powerful, and effective, able to do above and beyond anything that we could ever have asked or thought of. For those that become rooted and grounded in the Word, well, no weapon that is formed against you will ever prosper again.

John 6:33-35 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. (34) Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. (35) And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. (KJV)

You know, if you stay in the real mainstream of life, something that is living and powerful, and effective as well, then you won’t find yourself out in the world again looking for or longing for something or someone else that you think could ever satisfy an inward hunger and thirst.
