The Flip Side Of Faith

Romans 10:17-18 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (18) But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world. (KJV)

Actually that word ‘cometh’ is an added word, and does not really add much to the verse. Many people believe we get more faith, and that more comes our way by hearing, so they think that by listening to tapes or sermons all the time or even memorizing verses they will get more faith. We have all been given the same measure of faith, in fact it is the same measure our Lord was given and utilized while He walked this earth. Oh and by the way, before you go writing that check out to some false prophet who thinks it is their duty to send the Word to places where they think that no one has heard, yeah your Bible tells you that the Word was already there and has been.

Hebrews 3:12-14 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. (13) But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. (14) For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; (KJV)

You know folks, sin in its simplest form is unbelief, where one exchanges the truth for a lie, and then loses confidence in the simple faith that got them into the kingdom of God in the first place. In fact, without faith, believing more in the message being delivered by Christ, it is then impossible to please God because you will not be receiving your instructions from above and will end up walking by your carnal sight or senses instead. Oh and all that stuff about once saved always saved, well, only if you continue in the faith, or you to will end up cut off from the source of life.

Romans 11:20-22 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: (21) For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. (22) Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. (KJV)

Remember what the book of John said about the branches that are broken off? Yeah, they get gathered up in bundles and they burn. That faith that got you into the kingdom of God, that voice you heard in the beginning of your walk, yeah, that is the one you are going to have to follow through to the end if you truly desire the Lord’s eternal reward. I don’t know when or why God’s people became so arrogant to think that they cannot fall away from salvation, because if one is not giving ear to the voice of God then there is only one other voice left and that is not the one that you want to be listening to, the father of lies. It’s the ear tickling feel good false prophets that tell people that they cannot lose sight of their salvation; the fact is that many of God’s people begin in the Spirit but fall away because they think that they can perfect their walk according to the flesh and its fallen desires.

1 Timothy 4:1-2 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; (2) Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; (KJV)

We see again that word ‘depart’; remember, if we are not with God, well then the only thing left is that we are against Him. Keep in mind this fact as well, you cannot depart from a place unless you were actually there at one time, thus why the Word says that many are called but few are chosen.

Romans 4:19-20 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb: (20) He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; (KJV)

Unbelief is like a poison, and it is the flip side of faith. Abraham had a choice to believe God or to believe more in the outward circumstances. The end result was a new life that was brought forth rather than seeing God’s plan aborted, which brought glory to God.
