Mighty Powerful
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 For though we walk
in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (4) (For the weapons of our
warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of
strong holds;) (5) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that
exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity
every thought to the obedience of Christ; (KJV)
Strong’s definition for ‘mighty’:
1415 dunatos (doo-nat-os'); from 1410;
powerful or capable (literally or figuratively); neuter possible: KJV--
able, could, (that is) mighty (man), possible, power, strong.
First of all let’s face facts; we that
have experienced a rebirth into this new Spiritual realm, we all came with
some baggage, things that we held onto, like getting on a plane with some
carry on stuff. Some of these things had a real influence on us, or as the
verse above refers to a strong hold. The Word of God is mighty, no not in
the sense of that it might work, or maybe, but this Word is powerful,
strong, greater than anything or anyone, any other influence the enemy may
have had on you in your past. The Word of God is sharper than any two edged
sword, so that it can cut these spiritual things loose from your life and
set you free. It takes a living Spiritual sword to cut spiritual things
out, like surgery, and then the healing can take place.
Colossians 1:27-29 To whom God would make
known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles;
which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: (28) Whom we preach, warning
every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every
man perfect in Christ Jesus: (29) Whereunto I also labour, striving
according to his working, which worketh in me mightily. (KJV)
One of the biggest strong holds that grip
mankind is the riches of this world, like Paul described the love of money.
As we see above, Paul was giving an account of what his calling was and how
he discovered a realm that is described as a mystery, where the real riches
are being revealed to God’s people through the Spirit. Sad to say though
for many, that they do not continue in the faith, but rather choose to hold
onto the old way of life, robbing themselves of the new and living way of
life that is available in Christ. Again we see how this Word is able to
work mightily in those that believe and allow this living force to have
more of an influence on them than things in the outward realm.
Acts 19:18-20 And many that believed
came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds. (19) Many of them also which
used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all
men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces
of silver. (20) So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed. (KJV)
Is the Word of God and His insight
prevailing in your life, or are you looking in a dead, lifeless outward
realm thinking that there is something that could ever bring peace? The Word
of God is there for the taking, ready to pull down and cast out anything
that would try to exalt itself against the knowledge of God by bringing
every thought to the obedience of Christ. Now that sounds like something
mighty and much more powerful than anything else that you have tried
before.
