Live By Faith
Romans 4:16-18 Therefore it is of faith,
that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the
seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of
the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, (17) (As it is written,
I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed,
even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as
though they were. (18) Who against hope believed in hope, that he might
become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So
shall thy seed be. (KJV)
Those that are truly of the seed of
Abraham are those that are able to live by faith, not sight or the sound of
things, or any other outward appearance. God gives life to things that may
appear dead; the question is will you the believer allow this life giving Word
to work on your behalf as well. The Spirit is always willing, it’s our
flesh and its limited carnal tunnel vision that hesitates and draws back
rather than speaking in line with God so that His Word can bring life to
situations that seem dead in our walk.
James 5:16-18 Confess your faults one to
another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual
fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. (17) Elias was a man
subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might
not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and
six months. (18) And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the
earth brought forth her fruit. (KJV)
That word ‘effectual’ refers to something
mighty, or active. For many their prayer life is mighty, like something
might happen on their behalf rather than truly expecting results from God.
Hey folks, you have tapped into a life giving source of livings waters from
above, a Word that produced a whole universe, a life giving Word that
brought the dead back to life. In fact, as you read on you see a man named
Elias, referring to Elijah, who believed enough in this Word that his
prayer would produce rain when needed.
Luke 7:14-16 And he came and touched the
bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say
unto thee, Arise. (15) And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And
he delivered him to his mother. (16) And there came a fear on all: and they
glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That
God hath visited his people. (KJV)
We talked yesterday about a man that was
raised from the dead, and looking at the example above it is something that
I can relate to personally also. I was dead in sins and trespasses until
the day that I allowed the Word to bring life to me, and resurrect me
spiritually from the dead. My spirit was dormant until the Word came and I
was able to sit up and open my eyes to a totally new and living realm; then
I too was able to speak and live by words of faith, believing more in what
God was speaking to me and less influenced by the things of the world.
Galatians 2:20-21 I am crucified with
Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the
life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God,
who loved me, and gave himself for me. (21) I do not frustrate the grace of
God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. (KJV)
It was the Word of God that woke me from
the dead, a dead end life of misery and frustration in the flesh. It was
not of works, because my Lord and savior did all the work needed to get me
revived and back on my feet again so that I could walk and live by faith.
The Word of God is living and powerful, and so are all those that live by
faith in it.
