Consulting Who?
Galatians 1:15-16 But when it pleased
God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, (16)
To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen;
immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: (KJV)
When we accepted Christ we were
spiritually separated from our mother’s womb, that fleshly umbilical cord
was cut and we were set free to breathe in and live a new life with a new
blood supply straight from the throne of God our Father. He then began to reveal His Son, Christ
within us, and through being an example of the believers in Spirit and in
truth He is preached among the heathen; His ways and His thoughts brought
forth by example so that all those in this world are without excuse when
they stand before His throne.
Galatians 1:15-16
What haste the apostle made to obey the
call and command of God, after he had received it; Immediately I conferred
not with flesh and blood. He consulted neither himself (Prov 3:5) nor
others, neither his own heart nor the wisest heads, he consulted not his
own safety nor carnal interest, but instantly did what he was commanded to
do. (William Burkitt Commentary)
Conferred means to consult or to add from
ones store. How often do we find ourselves consulting the wisdom of this
world instead of our heavenly Father first and foremost? Do you immediately
go to the throne of God in time of need? Or do you find that you are
seeking the counsel of man, including your own thoughts and ways that you
have known so well from the past, trying to figure yourself out of whatever
you are facing? Remember this…
Isaiah 55:8-9 For my thoughts are not
your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. (9) For as
the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your
ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. (KJV)
So why not take counsel in the Lord this
day and at all times? He already knows what you have need of, and is
waiting patiently for you to seek Him out and allow Him to encourage, strengthen,
and guide you through all that you face this day. He has seen your whole
life before the foundation of the world and thus knows your need.
I encourage you, my brethren, be strong
in the Lord and in the power of His might. And everywhere and in all things
allow yourself to be instructed today by God through Christ which will be your
strength. God bless you and keep you this day.
