A Moment Of Weakness
Luke 4:5-8 And the devil, taking him up
into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a
moment of time. (6) And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give
thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to
whomsoever I will I give it. (7) If thou therefore wilt worship me, all
shall be thine. (8) And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind
me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him
only shalt thou serve. (KJV)
You know, our life can change in a moment;
one moment you were outside of the will of God, and then, wow, you
experienced a rebirth into an eternal realm of joy and peace. In a moment
of time we can be talked out of this eternal reward if we are not alert and
watching always. If one notices, the devil tried to get at our Lord in a
moment when he thought He would be weak and ready to cave in to the desires
of the flesh. The enemy tried to show the Lord that he could have a big
following, as well as the accolades of man if He would cave in and just
alter the doctrine a bit, appealing more to the flesh than the Spirit.
Given the fact that we are living in a fallen realm, many are worshipping
the creation and their works more than the Creator and what really works.
1 John 5:18-20 We know that whosoever is
born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself,
and that wicked one toucheth him not. (19) And we know that we are of God,
and the whole world lieth in wickedness. (20) And we know that the Son of
God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that
is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This
is the true God, and eternal life. (KJV)
The devil has been like a big bully, once
he got mankind to fall he has been beating on them with deceptions and half
truths, just enough to get them to stay outside and not on the inside. God
sent His Son our way to get the bully off of His creation, and to show us
how to keep him from touching us again. The whole world has fallen for the
lies of the wicked one, so you are not going to find much support out there
in that realm. You need to know and have an understanding of who Jesus
Christ is, so that His Spirit can bear witness with yours, and show you how
you can overcome your moments of weakness.
1 John 4:4-5 Ye are of God, little
children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you,
than he that is in the world. (5) They are of the world: therefore speak
they of the world, and the world heareth them. (KJV)
You know how you can tell the difference between
many of what I will refer to as religious organizations and what the true
church of God is? Well, you see they are not much different than those of
the world, they have basically fallen for the same deceptions; they just
attach a few scriptures to their doctrines and think it has the approval of
God. It’s not until you understand that the greater insight is within you
and not in the outward realm that you are going to be an over comer instead
of an underachiever.
Colossians 2:8-10 Beware lest any man
spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men,
after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. (9) For in him
dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. (10) And ye are complete in
him, which is the head of all principality and power: (KJV)
When you see people that claim to be of
God and yet follow the traditions of man (you know, like all these holidays
that man invented), that should be your warning that these people are more
like the world, and are seeking the world’s approval instead of our Lord’s.
In your moments when the enemy comes along, you know when we get ourselves
in the flesh (that area that is weak), will you allow someone greater to
have the influence in you so that you can cast down imaginations and any
other lie that the enemy would try to hurl in your direction?
