Ready Shoot Aim

Isaiah 40:29-31 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. (30) Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: (31) But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (KJV)

When praying and seeking an answer from the Lord, do you wait for His answer in His time, or do you proceed forward hoping to hit His intended target? What about the doctrine you are giving ear to, is it really coming from the Lord, or is it something that sounds close but just off a bit?

2 Corinthians 13:1 This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established. (KJV)

You know, as you read the word of God and hear His answer you will find that God has spoken through His people numerous times throughout the Bible, covering things more than once in His word. When seeking an answer from the Lord it would do you well to make sure that you take the time to hear Him clearly, letting Him confirm it through His word. All scripture is inspired by God speaking through His people that chose to give ear to His word of truth. So before just settling on what you think is the answer, go through the Word and see how many times you will find His response in His word, and let Him back it up with more than just one verse.

Deuteronomy 19:15 One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established. (KJV)

In the Old Testament when seeking a response to a matter, it would take at least two or more witnesses before they would act on the matter. If you are not sure of what you should be doing and how to respond to your own situation, you need to hear from the Lord before acting, whether it is through His word, or if you are hearing the same response through two of His people you know are hearing Him as well. Many times you will find things that are written in the New Testament were written in the old one as well, however, now we have the ability to understand the Spiritual meaning and context of them ourselves.

James 2:20-22 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? (21) Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? (22) Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? (KJV)

Sometimes we don’t always like the answer that we hear, and rather than act on what we are hearing we look for alternative ways of escape. There is an old saying that says ‘faith is a fact that requires an act’. Well, once we have heard the Lord and don’t respond accordingly, it is like a ship on the high seas being tossed to and fro because of contrary winds of doctrine, dead in the water.

James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. (KJV)

You know, once you hear the Lord’s answer it is not a time to plug your ears pretending you didn’t hear. The Lord will give you His response, but this time, aim first before shooting so that you know that you hit His intended target. Take the time in the Word, and you will find that He backs His word up with more than one or two witnesses. Kind of like the old saying amongst carpenters, measure twice cut once, not the other way around.
