I I Captain
Isaiah 14:12-15 How art thou fallen from
heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground,
which didst weaken the nations! (13) For thou hast said in thine heart, I
will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I
will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the
north: (14) I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like
the most High. (15) Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of
the pit. (KJV)
If you have ever wondered how sin began,
or was introduced into the universe, you see that it actually began with
one of the Lord’s own, an angel who had a high place in the realm of
heaven. You will also notice that his fall began with the word or term “I”;
so what may have begun and was working for a time, ended when this angel
became self willed. That stuff about pride coming before the fall, well, it
fell to earth here, with some attitude also, because this angel decided that
he was going to put himself in a place that God did not intend for him to
be in, and was given the boot because of it. Have you learned to be content
with who you are and the place that our Lord would have you to operate in
His body of believers, or are you looking above and beyond to a place that
our Lord is not leading in?
Luke 12:16-20 And he spake a parable unto
them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: (17)
And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no
room where to bestow my fruits? (18) And he said, This will I do: I will
pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my
fruits and my goods. (19) And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much
goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. (20)
But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of
thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? (KJV)
Many will begin their walk in the Spirit,
however, somewhere along the line they decided to take over, and what began
as seeking first the kingdom of God is put on the back burner, thinking that
they knew better. Once again we see the term “I will”; for many they think that
bigger is better and more impressive. However, for those that operate in
humility, they have learned to be faithful in the least before the Lord
will move them on. Again for the many, they get ahead of the Lord thinking that
they can improve on the Lord’s plan, which in the end is described as being
foolish. Besides, who is really our source given the fact that the earth is
the Lord’s and the fullness of it? Many think it is their possessions and
not the Lord’s.
James 4:13-15 Go to now, ye that say, To
day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year,
and buy and sell, and get gain: (14) Whereas ye know not what shall be on
the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for
a little time, and then vanisheth away. (15) For that ye ought to say, If
the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. (KJV)
So what is the real motivation of your
heart today, and is it something that our Lord would approve of, or are you
wandering off on your own, seeking things that will never bring peace? When
you pray about situations in your life, are you looking to the captain of
your salvation to find peace, or do you think it will be achieved with
loftier goals? Pride truly does come before the fall, and that big thump
was a being named Lucifer, who took a third of the angels with him.
