Hear Hear

Romans 10:16-18 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? (17) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (18) But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world. (KJV)

Strong’s definition for ‘cometh’:

9999  inserted word (x);

This word ‘cometh’ was added by the translators for better readability in the English; there is no actual word in the Greek text. The word may be displayed in italics, or in parentheses, or other brackets to indicate that it is not in the original text.

Many are of the assumption that you get more faith by hearing, whether it be through Bible memorization or listening to sermons on tapes, but the bottom line is not quantity folks, but rather quality. Just for the sake of those that fuss so much about verse 17, it clearly shows us that the word ‘cometh’ is an added word. Your faith is developed like a picture by your hearing; but do keep in mind this important fact, that it is hearing the truth and only the truth of God’s word is what is going to set you free. All that other junk that you give ear to, man’s religions and doctrines, are not going to move you forward in your walk, but rather they will cause more confusion than peace. You can see and hear the importance again of hearing, as we see it mentioned twice in verse 17.

Hebrews 5:11-12 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. (12) For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. (KJV)

A lot of people are listening to a lot of things, many of which they claim are of God. The truth is that only a few are really giving ear to the inward man, the Spiritual ears that we should be listening with, and not relying so much anymore on the outward man. Thus the reason why it is so vital that we learn to hear the Lord for ourselves and keep oneself built up in truth; because only that truth coming straight from the throne of God will set you free and nourish that new creation within you.

Hebrews 5:13-14 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. (14) But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. (KJV)

Learn the Word for yourself, rightly divide the truth; in other words, quit listening to everyone else’s opinions and find out for yourself what the Lord is desiring to speak personally to you so that you can grow up and mature in the realm of the Spirit the way He intended for you to grow up. You wonder why so many fuss and whine all the time, acting like a bunch of babies? Well, one just needs to look at the tainted doctrine that they are giving ear to; you know, like a tainted bottle of formula for a baby?

Ephesians 4:13-15 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: (14) That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; (15) But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: (KJV)

Do you truly desire to grow up and mature in the Lord? It all comes down to hearing folks; hearing from the Lord personally on a daily basis so that you can know, and no longer have to guess or doubt who you are in Christ. You want to get ahead in life? Then look to the Head of the Church and hear your answer, personally, confidently, and with some boldness as well.
