He Never Left
Joel 2:23-26 Be glad then, ye children of
Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former
rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the
former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. (24) And the floors
shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil. (25)
And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the
cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I
sent among you. (26) And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and
praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you:
and my people shall never be ashamed. (KJV)
Even though the verses above were written
to the children of Israel, these promises and blessings are still available
to you the believer today, and should be something that is real and alive
to you personally. You as a parent wouldn’t ditch your children or forget
them would you? No of course not; so why do we act sometimes like our Lord
does? Sound kind of silly? Yeah, but it is amazing with all that God
promises to His people, how many times does our imagination wander through
the valley of the shadow of death, entertaining worse case scenarios?
Hebrews 13:5-6 Let your conversation be
without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he
hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (6) So that we may
boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do
unto me. (KJV)
We are told and encouraged in the Word
that we should be learning to walk more by faith and less by our limited
outward sight. Given the fact that the eyes of man are never satisfied, we
need to see things from a different perspective, that being a Spiritual
one. You know, if you really make serving our Lord a priority in your life
then you wouldn’t lose sight of Him, and you would be able to speak boldly
in His name knowing who you are in Christ and your rights and authority that
you have in His name. The more you allow His word to influence your walk,
the less concerned you are with what others are doing; you know, like the
many who were called and yet only a few are actually chosen by God.
Psalms 23:4-6 Yea, though I walk through
the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with
me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. (5) Thou preparest a table
before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil;
my cup runneth over. (6) Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the
days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. (KJV)
You know, even though you decided to take
a stroll down memory lane, you know that carnal path that you thought would
bring life again, our Lord never left you or forsook you did He? Those
imaginations and thoughts that we entertain at times, well all you need to
do is call on the Lord and let Him show you the truth that will cast that
junk back down to the pit that it came from in the first place. The truth
is folks that the Lord has a table prepared for you to eat at, and then
when you are full you should know and expect that surely, not just maybe or
once in a while, goodness and mercy is what is following you.
1 Timothy 4:1-2 Now the Spirit speaketh
expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith,
giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; (2) Speaking lies
in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; (KJV)
It’s all good on the Lord’s end; however,
there is nothing that says that you can’t take a hike. In fact the warnings
are clear that many more are going the wrong way. Some get a hold of the
truth and then just let it slip through their hands reaching for a lie
rather than continuing in the truth that would set and keep them free from
all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
Colossians 1:21-23 And you, that were
sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath
he reconciled (22) In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy
and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: (23) If ye continue in the
faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the
gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which
is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister; (KJV)
If one looks closely at the clauses in
their heavenly contract they see that the Lord asks and requires that we do
not leave or forsake the faith, which you need to know is singular and not
plural. You will notice to that in verse 21 the battle ground is our minds,
which if not renewed with the mind of Christ will leave one walking away
from our Lord instead of embracing the truth. So in conclusion today, our
Lord is not leaving or forsaking us; will you be able to make the same
statement to Him in return?
