Drawing The Right Conclusion

James 4:7-8 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (8) Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. (KJV)

So how can one improve their relationship with the Lord and get closer to Him? Well, you need to take that step of faith, and then He draws closer to you. Ever see these people that draw portraits where they stay seated and focus on the person that they are drawing, getting all the details? Well it makes it a lot easier to see the portrait and draw the right resemblance, especially the closer you get.

Psalms 69:16-18 Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies. (17) And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily. (18) Draw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of mine enemies. (KJV)

You know, when you pray to the Lord, especially in a time of trouble or need, you sure want His response don’t you? So how willing are you to respond to Him and the needs of His people as well? How about the wee hours of the morning when the Lord is calling you so that you can get a jumpstart in the Word, not only for yourself but for one of His people? How willing are you to draw near to Him even though it may not always be convenient to the flesh. I recall someone who did not consider Calvary to be very convenient either, but followed through with it anyway.

Mark 4:23-25 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. (24) And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. (25) For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath. (KJV)

Many wonder why their prayer life seems stale or at a standstill. Well, the simple truth is that they are at a standstill, no longer drawing closer to the Lord but rather in a holding pattern, holding out for things in the outward realm rather than the inward one. Thus why we are instructed to walk by faith and not by sight, or any other misleading carnal senses that are totally contrary to our Spiritual insight that we have in Christ.

1 Corinthians 7:34-35 There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. (35) And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction. (KJV)

Some of the desires you are praying about, is it something that will really draw you closer to the Lord or draw you away from Him? Some of these people you get associated with are high maintenance people, like little children always drawing the attention toward them and away from our Lord. If you are truly going to attend to the Lord and what He desires in your walk then you will need to erase any hindrances of the flesh, no matter who or how it manifests.

Proverbs 4:20-22 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. (21) Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. (22) For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. (KJV)

What has the most attention in your life today, that which pertains to the temporal, or the eternal? Are you drawing the right conclusion today on what the Lord is asking of you this day, right now?
