A Real Low Life

John 3:30-31 He must increase, but I must decrease. (31) He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all. (KJV)

The world will tell you that bigger is better; while in God’s realm the opposite is true. In fact, instead of trying to make people out to be bigger than life, so to speak, our goal as Christians should not be to get bigger, but actually our goal is to get smaller.

Luke 14:8-11 When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him; (9) And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room. (10) But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. (11) For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. (KJV)

You know, when people get bigger in the flesh they are considered obese, and from the studies that are out there this way of life is unhealthy, and opens the door for a lot of unhealthy things to enter their temple. Spiritually, those that think higher than they should need to find their true calling in the Lord, and find the place that He would have them to operate in, in His body of believers. The more you get out of the way and decrease, the more someone else can take over and increase. Similar to those that workout and get strong, they replace the fat with muscle so that it makes them stronger and binds the body.

John 7:3-4 His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest. (4) For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world. (KJV)

The world and its worldly preacher’s think that bigger is better, and that they have to go out and make a name for themselves. In fact many times they put their own names on their ministries, and people are more drawn to a big name rather than the name which is above every name. As we see clearly illustrated above, our Lord did not come to put on an outward show and make a name for Himself, but rather He faithfully did the work that God had for Him to do, not concerned for the admiration of a fallen mankind.

John 7:3 [For there is no man ...] The brethren of Jesus supposed that he was influenced as others are. As it is a common thing among men to seek popularity, so they supposed that he would also seek it; and as a great multitude would be assembled at Jerusalem at this feast, they supposed it would be a favorable time to make himself known. (from Barnes' Notes)

Oh mankind has things so backward, putting the attention on the creation rather than the Creator. Our goal in life should be to become smaller so that someone much bigger can come alive and manifest in our walk.

John 5:43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. (KJV)

A real low life; how about those that humble themselves and stay out of the limelight so that the true light can be shined in the right place. God bless and stay low.
