The Greatest Reward
John 15:11-14 These things have I spoken
unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
(12) This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
(13) Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for
his friends. (14) Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. (KJV)
Want to know why I consider salvation to
be the greatest reward of all? Well simply put, it never has to end. I have
done things in this life and have enjoyed them for a season only to see them
come to an end. I have had people come and go, some on good terms, some I
was glad to see in my rear view mirror. Point is, we have all searched for
something greater in our lives which led us to the Lord, and now it is a
matter of learning how to maintain this relationship and follow through
with it to the end so that we can receive this greatest reward available to
mankind through Jesus Christ our Lord.
1 Corinthians 13:11-13 When I was a
child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child:
but when I became a man, I put away childish things. (12) For now we see
through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but
then shall I know even as also I am known. (13) And now abideth faith,
hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. (KJV)
When you were a child, and hopefully that
is in your past, you were only concerned with your own things, and you let
others know when you didn’t get them. Now that we have somewhat matured and
learned to walk in the realm of the Spirit, our mindset should be on others
and the things they need in their walk. So unless you take the time on a
daily basis seeking the things of God not only for yourself but for others
as well, you will not be a vessel fit and ready to share and demonstrate
how this love of God works in and through you.
Philippians 2:3-5 Let nothing be done
through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other
better than themselves. (4) Look not every man on his own things, but every
man also on the things of others. (5) Let this mind be in you, which was
also in Christ Jesus: (KJV)
You know, the mind of Christ will show
you how to step out of your own realm and into the things that are
beneficial to others as well. Ever notice people that only live for
themselves, how they are miserable and lacking any joy or peace in their
lives? How about every year in December when the Scrooge movie is played? Rather
similar to many Christians and one many can still relate to. Oh, and when
you do see striving and vainglory going on, even in the so called Christian
realm, well, childish to say the least.
1 Corinthians 3:1-4 And I, brethren,
could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as
unto babes in Christ. (2) I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for
hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. (3) For
ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and
divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? (4) For while one saith, I
am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal? (KJV)
You know, when you see stuff like
denominations, manmade titles that man has labeled their organizations with
and not God, yeah, sounds more like the daycare area than a place of mature
adult Christians doesn’t it? Do you desire the greatest reward, then grow
up and quit acting like a child who thinks they are lacking, and start
realizing all that has been done already on your behalf. Boo Hoo.
