The God Of All Comfort
John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the
truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the
Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto
you. (KJV)
Strong’s definition for ‘comforter’:
3875
parakletos (par-ak'-lay-tos); an intercessor, consoler: KJV--
advocate, comforter.
Where else are you going to find real
comfort; no, we are not talking about physical comfort, but the Spiritual
one? Well, the only real, true, long lasting comfort is found in the inward
realm, and it only comes to us through the Spirit, a personal relationship
you need to establish with the Father through His Son. Have you found this
comfort for yourself, and if so, have you been able to maintain it, or is
it hit or miss for you? You are not going to find comfort anywhere in this
fallen realm because it was never there in the first place. Even from the
garden of Eden mankind has been attempting to look in the fallen realm and
has come up empty. You too will come up empty in your pursuit for comfort
and peace if you think you can find it somewhere else other than where God
said it is, right in your heart.
John 14:26-27 But the Comforter, which is
the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you
all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have
said unto you. (27) Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not
as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled,
neither let it be afraid. (KJV)
The Bible tells us that things are not
going to get better, but rather they will wax worse and worse. So with the
turmoil going on in the outward realm you will need to find the true comfort
located in the inward realm if you are going to maintain peace and let this
peace rule in your life. It would do you well to get to know this Comforter,
and the name He goes by so that you will not lose sight of where the true
comfort of God is, and how to hold fast your profession of faith without wavering
back and forth.
1 John 4:1-3 Beloved, believe not every
spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false
prophets are gone out into the world. (2) Hereby know ye the Spirit of God:
Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of
God: (3) And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in
the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye
have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. (KJV)
The doctrine of Christ is the Spirit of
truth, and those that know His name will be approved by God to deliver His
message of comfort to His people. If the teaching and preaching is not
based on Jesus Christ, then it is not of God but rather a spirit contrary
to sound doctrine, one that the enemy sends to distract and cause confusion
rather than peace and comfort.
2 Corinthians 1:3-5 Blessed be God, even
the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of
all comfort; (4) Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be
able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we
ourselves are comforted of God. (5) For as the sufferings of Christ abound
in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. (KJV)
The Holy Spirit was sent our way to bring
this comfort; knowing this, that as big as the trial may appear someone
bigger and greater is within you as well. So take comfort in the fact that
as these sufferings abound (which is referring to coming your way, and they
will because all those in Christ shall suffer persecution), so your
consolation and comfort will abound greater and you will continue to be
more than a conqueror through Him that loved us. God bless and keep
abounding in the love of God in Christ.
