Why The Son?
Luke 1:34-35 Then said Mary unto the
angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? (35) And the angel
answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the
power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing
which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. (KJV)
Why would we refer to Jesus Christ as the
Son of God? Well, as you go through your Bible you will see that those that
were sent from God bear witness to this as well. God used His messengers to
bring truth; after all, we serve a God who is not the author of confusion,
but of peace. So what is going to bring peace to your heart; hearing half-
truths and deceptions, or knowing the truth and letting that simple truth
set you free?
Matthew 16:15-18 He saith unto them, But
whom say ye that I am? (16) And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the
Christ, the Son of the living God. (17) And Jesus answered and said unto
him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed
it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. (18) And I say also unto
thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and
the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (KJV)
If you notice, Peter didn’t answer that
Jesus was God Himself, but rather the correct response was that He was the
Son of the living God. Take note of the fact that this was the answer that
our Lord said was blessed, because it came from the Father through the Son.
In fact, this name is the rock solid foundation the church of God is
established on. So if this name will hold up in heaven, well that’s good
enough for me as well.
John 6:68-69 Then Simon Peter answered
him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. (69) And
we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living
God. (KJV)
Peter got it right, having seen and heard
God’s plan of salvation being manifested through His Son. You will get it
right, and can be sure you are right also if you follow the same
prescription sent from above.
Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the
children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. (KJV)
You know, we too are considered a part of
the family of God, putting our faith in Him through His Son. Faith is our
ability to believe in what God says, despite what many others say or claim
He is. The best advice I can give to the Church is, that when there is an
issue that arises, one needs to go to the Word for themselves and establish
the answer correctly in what God says and not what mankind tries to pawn
off as truth.
Romans 8:14-16 For as many as are led by
the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. (15) For ye have not received
the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of
adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. (16) The Spirit itself beareth
witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: (KJV)
You wouldn’t consider yourself or any
other person to be God, so why do so many make the claim that Jesus was
God? Why the Son, well because that is what the Word clearly says.
1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you
know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is
the man; and the head of Christ is God. (KJV)
Anytime man changes the order that God
clearly set it then alters their good standing that they may have had with
Him at one time.
1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear
record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three
are one. (KJV)
As simple as one, two, three; anytime man
makes claims that are not based on fact but rather fiction, it puts them in
the category of antichrist; because if we are not with God and in agreement
with His Word, then we are against Him.
