The Real Deal

1Kings 22:17-19 And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace. (18) And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil? (19) And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left. (KJV)

We spoke yesterday about a man named Micaiah, who was one of about four hundred, who chose to hold God to be true and anyone else a liar. It would take someone grounded, settled in the fact that they knew the Lord personally, and were able to hear and hold to Him despite the numbers contrary. The reason this is brought up is to warn all those in Christ today that odds are you too will find more in opposition, even in the so called church realm. The question now becomes, will you too hold fast your profession of faith without wavering as well?

1Kings 22:20-23 And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner. (21) And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him. (22) And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so. (23) Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee. (KJV)

Obviously today not much has changed; in fact, according to the Word of God deceivers are waxing worse and worse in deceptions, deceiving and being deceived. Case in point, our Lord is quite specific that we are to only worship one Lord, and that would be by one faith in Jesus Christ; and yet as I look around, in just this country alone we have thousands of different so called faiths and doctrines being peddled as the real deal. So we see that there is truly nothing new under the sun is there; many false prophets are giving more ear to the lying spirit than to the Spirit of truth.

1Kings 22:24-25 But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee? (25) And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see in that day, when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself. (KJV)

Oh if I could be like Paul, or Peter, or some of the other people God has used to deliver His message. Well, your viewpoint on ministry life might change a bit when you see how God’s people have been treated for taking a stand and delivering His message.

1Kings 22:27-28 And say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace. (28) And Micaiah said, If thou return at all in peace, the LORD hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, O people, every one of you. (KJV)

This was the reward this man received for delivering the truth, a one way ticket back to prison. Sure would have taken some courage, as well as knowing the Lord personally to stand up to this persecution and not waver despite the odds.

1Kings 22:34-35 And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: wherefore he said unto the driver of his chariot, Turn thine hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am wounded. (35) And the battle increased that day: and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Syrians, and died at even: and the blood ran out of the wound into the midst of the chariot. (KJV)

In the end, the king that did the smiting to the prophet of God ended up being smote himself personally, just as the one true man of God prophesied. A number of God’s people have suffered throughout time to keep the message of God alive and flowing despite the overwhelming odds in the outward. With all that God and His people have done on our behalf, by all means make our Lord a priority; so that in your time of trial you will not fall away but you will continue in the faith grounded and settled on the fact that God is true, and man or anyone who gives ear to the lying spirits of this world are liars. Hold fast to the Real Deal.
