One In Four Hundred

1Kings 22:3-6 And the king of Israel said unto his servants, Know ye that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we be still, and take it not out of the hand of the king of Syria? (4) And he said unto Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ramoth-gilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I am as thou art, my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses. (5) And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Inquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day. (6) Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall I go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king. (KJV)

What is the significance of the one in four hundred? Well, as we read on in this chapter, we will find out that it has to do with the number of the false prophets in comparison to the one that really took a stand for the Lord.

1Kings 22:7-9 And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might inquire of him? (8) And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so. (9) Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, Hasten hither Micaiah the son of Imlah. (KJV)

Most of us have heard about Abraham, Moses, David, and other well known names from the Old Testament, but today I thought it fitting to make mention of another well known man; well, at least well known to God that is. As we see once again, and as you will find in your walk with the Lord, majority doesn’t rule; in fact those that are being deceived, even though they claim they are of God, far outnumber the real deals. In fact in the New Testament the terms ‘many’ and ‘few’ are used, so you do the math.

1Kings 22:12-14 And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the king's hand. (13) And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good. (14) And Micaiah said, As the LORD liveth, what the LORD saith unto me, that will I speak. (KJV)

We are skipping through some of the verses, but by all means feel free to go back through this whole chapter on your own as well. Keep in mind that the Lord has been dealing with the ‘many’ throughout the whole Bible, while only a ‘few’ will truly serve Him. So don’t think it is something new today Church; now that we are in the last days, and things have only gotten worse and worse, many more are falling away rather than taking a stand for truth.

Luke 21:12-15 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake. (13) And it shall turn to you for a testimony. (14) Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: (15) For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. (KJV)

As times get tougher and we near the end, the Bible says that things will only get worse, and not better. When it comes time for you to take a stand before a king, or anyone else in authority, how will you answer? Will you be the one in four hundred?
