Many Have Snuck In
2 Peter 2:1-3 But there were false
prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among
you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord
that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. (2) And many
shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth
shall be evil spoken of. (3) And through covetousness shall they with
feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time
lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. (KJV)
Thayer’s definition for ‘privily’:

pareisago- to introduce or bring in secretly or craftily
Secretly or craftily; kind of reminds me
of a serpent, one that slithers in and goes after the prey. As we notice
once again, it is not a few that are being taken in by these false prophets
and their false doctrines, but rather many are being misled. Verse 2 sums
it up quite well, ‘the way of truth shall be evil spoken of’. The Bible
tells us clearly what the root cause is of all evil, that being, more a
love of money rather than a love for the Lord. So what we see going on in
many cases is that many make it appear that God is more concerned with the
financial welfare of people rather than their Spiritual health.
Micah 3:11-12 The heads thereof judge for
reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof
divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the
LORD among us? none evil can come upon us. (12) Therefore shall Zion for
your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the
mountain of the house as the high places of the forest. (KJV)
In some of these places that people call
a church you are nothing more than a number to them, another sucker on
their mailing list, preying on and not praying for the flock of God. I
personally over the years have heard many talk and give big rah rah
speeches on how strong the church is and how much it is growing, which is
based more on the outward than the inward growth. Yet the more one gets to
know the Lord and the doctrine of Christ, the more one sees all the
deadbeats and phonies that have snuck by those who should have had their Spiritual
senses exercised to discern between good and evil.
2 Peter 2:18-19 For when they speak great
swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh,
through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live
in error. (19) While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants
of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in
bondage. (KJV)
Church, you cannot take the mindset and
the desires of the world and try to carry them over into the new realm that
our Lord desires for us to walk in. Many escape the corruption of the world,
only to fall back into it again in the form of religion and doctrines of
man who twist and pervert the Word to make it look like God is more concerned
with money than your soul.
Matthew 24:11-13 And many false prophets
shall rise, and shall deceive many. (12) And because iniquity shall abound,
the love of many shall wax cold. (13) But he that shall endure unto the
end, the same shall be saved. (KJV)
Heed the warnings; because times are not
getting better people, but worse; and it will take a whole hearted effort
on your part to rightly divide the word of truth and know for yourself what
is of God and what man has tried to pawn off as truth. Don’t be caught
napping; because many false prophets have snuck past God’s people who
should have been watching and who should have not allowed this folly to
proceed any further. God bless and keep the faith.
