Before Faith
Williams New Testament translation
of Galatians 3:23-25
23. But before this faith came, we were
kept locked up under the law, in preparation for the faith which was to be
unveiled. 24. So the law has been our attendant to lead us to Christ, so
that we might through faith obtain right standing with God. 25. But now
that this faith has come, we are no longer in the charge of the attendant.
That old law that was in place in the
past, well Church, it is not in play anymore, but it served its purpose and
kept things in order until the time of Christ. Just like when you were a
child, you needed someone to attend to your needs until you grew up and
were able to attend to them yourself; so it goes with the Church. So if before
faith we were kept locked up and imprisoned, outside and separated from the
Lord by a veil, why do so many today still hold to things that are no
longer in play?
Hebrews 10:19-20 Having therefore,
brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, (20) By
a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil,
that is to say, his flesh; (KJV)
You know Church, there is a new way to
access the Lord, and it is alive and well to those that seek Him in Spirit
and in truth. The old law was the old way which kept a veil on the heart,
and those who hold to that law are not able to see and clearly identify the
Lord and His new law of faith.
Hebrews 10:21-22 And having an high
priest over the house of God; (22) Let us draw near with a true heart in
full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil
conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. (KJV)
There is a name which is above all names,
that name is Jesus Christ. He alone is our High Priest people, and you won’t
find anyone more qualified for that position. This man, this High Priest,
offered one sacrifice for the people so that they would be forever forgiven
and allowed free access into His realm. The difference between our High
Priest and all the other ones before Him is that He is alive and well,
seated at the right hand of the Father; while all those that ever came
before Him have long since died, along with the old law.
2 Corinthians 3:14-16 But their minds
were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in
the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. (15) But
even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. (16) Nevertheless
when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. (KJV)
Before faith there was blindness, a
spiritual darkness caused by a spiritual veil. It took a Spiritual being to
remove a spiritual veil, and that is Christ in you. For some reason many of
God’s people begin so well in the Spirit and then return back to the works
of the law seeking life in something our Lord clearly says throughout His Word
is dead, died, and should stay buried. With a new and living way to the
Father through the Son, with that veil done away, don’t let the enemy pull
the wool back over the eyes of your understanding by getting caught up
again in the works of the law.
2 Corinthians 3:17-18 Now the Lord is
that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. (18) But
we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are
changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of
the Lord. (KJV)
There was no liberty in the old law
before faith, but rather a bunch of dead rituals that could never remove
sin, instead they just covered it up for a season. Now that the sin is
removed and the veil that kept us in the dark is done away, stand fast in
that liberty in which Christ has set us free, and don’t be entangled again
in a yoke of bondage under the disguise of religious rituals and laws.
