Abraham’s Seed
Galatians 3:26-29 For ye are all the
children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. (27) For as many of you as have
been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. (28) There is neither Jew nor
Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female:
for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. (29) And if ye be Christ's, then are ye
Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. (KJV)
Do you have to be Jewish to be considered
Abraham’s seed? Nope; actually once you accepted Christ into your life you
are now adopted into His Spiritual family. We see that our inheritance and
adoption is one by faith, and not of our works, which eliminates all
boasting on mankind’s end. So how do we stay in good standing with our
Lord?
Romans 4:1-3 What shall we say then that
Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? (2) For if
Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before
God. (3) For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was
counted unto him for righteousness. (KJV)
Abraham is used as an example for us
because He simply believed God, and that is what kept him in good standing
with God. If one wants to glory in works, which many do when they go back
to the works of the old law, we see in verse 2 that this takes place
outside of God’s realm and not something that will keep one inside it.
Romans 4:4-5 Now to him that worketh is
the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. (5) But to him that worketh
not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted
for righteousness. (KJV)
People, outside of believing what the
Lord has done on our behalf I don’t see anything else left for us, the Church,
to do but believe. It is that simple, and yet so hard when mankind gets
involved with all their carnal rituals that they throw into the mix, which
no longer works. Abraham was used of God and a man that is still used of
God as an example of the believers, simply because he chose to believe;
real simple.
Galatians 3:6-9 Even as Abraham believed
God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. (7) Know ye therefore
that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. (8) And
the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith,
preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations
be blessed. (9) So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful
Abraham. (KJV)
So to sum it all up, all I have to do is
believe God and I too am considered righteous, and in good standing with
God. That part about being blessed in verse 9 sounds pretty good too.
Galatians 3:16 Now to Abraham and his
seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as
of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. (KJV)
Luke 8:10-11 And he said, Unto you it is
given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in
parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not
understand. (11) Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. (KJV)
Many people think that they are in good
standing with God because of the carnal lineage and not the Spiritual one.
Those that are in Christ know that it is by faith in His completed work is
what keeps us in good standing with God and a part of His family.
