Training Day

Psalms 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. (KJV)

Lights, camera, action; this is the day, right now you have the opportunity to serve a living God in Spirit and in truth so that some day when you stand before His throne to give account of your life there will be no shame. All of us from day one of our salvation are in a training process, one that takes place on a daily basis learning to walk by faith, the unseen realm, at least to the carnal vision. Nothing that took place in your past has any bearing on where you are headed today, unless you are still holding to the past and some of its foolish childish ways.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. (KJV)

There are two ways that we can look at the above verse; one is seeing ourselves as a newborn child of God and coming to Him seeking His counsel and wisdom of how to walk this new path in the new realm we just entered by faith. Another way is for those that are parents; you have an obligation to teach your child the things of God, not only by word but in deed as well. Oh, by the way, dumping your children off at the local congregation and leaving it in someone else’s hands is not a good way to handle this either. In the end you will still be held responsible for what kind of doctrine they were taught on your watch.

Proverbs 22:15 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him. (KJV)

The wisdom of this world and its fallen limited way of thinking is foolishness in the sight of God; and for all of us we had been indoctrinated in this worldly realm before our conversion in Christ. Oh and parents, this foolishness is also bound in the heart of your lovely offspring; so like it or not you will still need to apply a rod of correction to drive it out of them. Yeah I know, all this new age thinking and psychology of man would have you negotiate with the child rather than show them who the boss really is. But hey, one only needs to look around and see just how ineffective this kind of thinking is, where now the child is ruling the parents. In days gone by this was not the mindset, but rather even in the classrooms the teachers had more control because they were allowed to provide the rod of correction when needed.

Proverbs 23:12-14 Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge. (13) Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. (14) Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell. (KJV)

Counting to ten or taking time outs just doesn’t work people. Again, how many times have you gone to other people’s homes and literally seen where the child is out of control and calling the shots, a bit awkward and embarrassing isn’t it? The reason many people don’t apply correction in the child is because they are not listening and disciplining themselves and giving heed to the Lord’s correction for their own walk. To quote an old phrase “stupid is as stupid does”.

Proverbs 13:24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. (KJV)

Do you really love that child; do you really love the Lord? Well this is the day that He has made for us to walk in; are you giving ear to His counsel and consider this is a training day in the realm of the Spirit?
