The Perfect Fit
Proverbs 2:20-22 That thou mayest walk in
the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous. (21) For the
upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it. (22) But
the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be
rooted out of it. (KJV)
We began this week dealing with those
that would accompany fools, which in the end would be destructive to their Spiritual
health and well being. The flip side of that is walking with a new crowd,
those that have their Spiritual senses exercised and know the importance of
discerning between good and evil. Remember, it only takes a little leaven
to leaven the whole lump. When you see the word ‘perfect’ in the Bible keep
in mind that many times it is referring more to maturity, growing up in the
Lord.
Malachi 3:16-18 Then they that feared the
LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and
a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD,
and that thought upon his name. (17) And they shall be mine, saith the LORD
of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a
man spareth his own son that serveth him. (18) Then shall ye return, and
discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God
and him that serveth him not. (KJV)
Remember when you were younger and what
would happen when you were around older more mature people? Yeah,
eventually it would rub off on you and you too would start thinking in a
more mature way. How about if you would be around those that were younger
than you? Yeah, not much of a challenge there; in fact, eventually it would
get boring watching others doing the childish things that you used to
partake of. The more you associate with those that are likeminded with the
Lord, the more you will be thinking and acting like one of the Lord’s as
well.
Psalms 1:1-3 Blessed is the man that
walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of
sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. (2) But his delight is in
the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. (3) And
he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth
his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he
doeth shall prosper. (KJV)
That tree that is planted by the river
and has grown up, yeah, it’s not going anywhere is it? That tree has a
strong root system, and is not going to be swayed or blown over by the
winds. Neither is the Christian, the one who matures in the things of God
and does not associate with ungodliness, they won’t be blown over with
winds of doctrines either.
Psalms 1:4-6 The ungodly are not so: but
are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. (5) Therefore the ungodly
shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the
righteous. (6) For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way
of the ungodly shall perish. (KJV)
We see what happens to ungodly people
don’t we? Well Christian, the same result happens to those who, even though
they began their walk with the Lord and had good intentions in the
beginning, the end result will be the same for them too if they don’t find
the perfect fit that the Lord has for them in His body of believers.
