Self Destructing
Jude 1:10-13 But these speak evil of
those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute
beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. (11) Woe unto them! for
they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of
Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. (12) These are
spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding
themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of
winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up
by the roots; (13) Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame;
wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever. (KJV)
Jude, the author of this book was
actually the half brother of our Lord, has some rather interesting comments
concerning some of the doctrines that were being thrown out. Keep in mind
that the people he is referring to are those that claim they are of God,
but when listening to what is coming out of them it clearly points out that
they are not. When listening too many today not much has changed, many have
sold out, preaching more from a love of money rather than a love for God
and His people. Again, by not knowing the truth it then opens one up for a
world of hurt, corrupting themselves.
1Thessalonians 4:3-5 For this is the will
of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
(4) That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in
sanctification and honour; (5) Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as
the Gentiles which know not God: (KJV)
It’s one thing to watch the world and its
worldly people mock God and alter His plan of salvation, basically
exchanging the truth for a lie, and worshiping the creation more than the Creator.
In other words, if something feels good then do it. However, it’s another
thing to watch those that know the truth get caught up in these fallen
doctrines, many times because they associate more with fallen people and
influences rather than renewing their minds with the Word. A lot of
unhealthy things have crept into the mindset of the believers, and whether
you believe it or not our Lord does not change with the times, that would
make Him a liar.
2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 In flaming fire
taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of
our Lord Jesus Christ: (9) Who shall be punished with everlasting
destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
(KJV)
Many people self- destruct, because
rather than making God and His kingdom a priority they ignore Him. Not only
will there be punishment to those that don’t know God, but we see those
that don’t obey Him will self-destruct as well. Its one thing to hear God
and His voice, but it is vital to follow through with what He is asking as
well. You know, the doing part of it.
John 10:4-5 And when he putteth forth his
own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know
his voice. (5) And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him:
for they know not the voice of strangers. (KJV)
Do you know the difference between the
voice of our Lord and a stranger’s voice? Which one do you really give the
most attention to? The Lord came so that you could have life and have it
more abundantly; while the stranger comes to steal this life so that you
will self-destruct, letting the lie have more of an influence than the
truth.
