Desire Of The Heart
Mark 4:11-13 And he said unto them, Unto
you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them
that are without, all these things are done in parables: (12) That seeing
they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not
understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins
should be forgiven them. (13) And he said unto them, Know ye not this
parable? and how then will ye know all parables? (KJV)
What is the desire of our Lord’s heart?
Well, how about the same desire you have for your children, to see them
walk in truth, and to live a healthy productive life. The issue is that too
many people, our Lord’s kingdom is still a mystery to them, because rather
than step out in faith they still hold to their fallen earthly desires,
still thinking that something in this realm could ever fulfill and provide
any real peace in their lives.
Psalms 37:4-6 Delight thyself also in the
LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. (5) Commit thy way
unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. (6) And he
shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the
noonday. (KJV)
You know with a new heart, a new life,
well, there should be a new desire as well. The things that you used to
desire and thought would bring peace are now discarded and replaced with a
new desire for the things above, and not the things of this life. Do you ever
wonder why it seems your prayers are not getting answered, or you are not
getting any results? Well, quite possibly it is a result of you seeking
things that appeal more to your fallen nature rather than the new one. It’s
when one truly commits to the Lord and then follows through with that
commitment that the path of life is illuminated, like in the middle of the
day, so that they can clearly see and know they are in good standing with
our Father.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 For which cause we
faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed
day by day. (17) For our light affliction, which is but for a moment,
worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; (18) While
we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not
seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are
not seen are eternal. (KJV)
Your outward way of thinking, your
limited carnal tunnel vision should be perishing, so that you can now see
things from a different perspective, that being from above. You know, when
you set your affection on things above then you are able to get a total
viewpoint and see clearly through the eyes of the Spirit. Also keep in mind
that the more you look from above the smaller things get here on earth.
Philippians 2:3-4 Let nothing be done
through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other
better than themselves. (4) Look not every man on his own things, but every
man also on the things of others. (KJV)
You know another thing that you will find
out when you set your affection on things above? Yeah, believe it or not
you are not the only one on planet earth. Once you have been enlightened to
the truth and are being built up in it, it is our Father’s desire that you
learn to distribute to the necessity of His saints as well.
Proverbs 10:24-25 The fear of the wicked,
it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted. (25)
As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an
everlasting foundation. (KJV)
Actually, to sum up the desire of the
heart, our Lord would like to see His people be like a water fountain, the
waters being eternal of course. Out of our heart should flow rivers of
living water to any and all those who desire to worship our Lord in Spirit
and in truth. What is flowing out of your heart today, and is it desirable
in our Lord’s sight?
