Bound By Foolishness
Proverbs 22:15 Foolishness is bound in
the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from
him. (KJV)
Whether one likes it or not we were all
born into this realm with some baggage, that being our lower fallen carnal
nature and its way of thinking. Two things are required of all of us to
enter the Lord’s realm: one being born of the water, the flesh (not water
baptism by the way), and the other being born again into the realm of the
Spirit. So just like with all children, they all require someone to show
them how to grow up and mature; the question now becomes, where are you
truly seeking and getting your counsel from?
1 Corinthians 1:18-20 For the preaching
of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are
saved it is the power of God. (19) For it is written, I will destroy the
wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the
prudent. (20) Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer
of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? (KJV)
Blessings, blessings, blessings; this
seems to be all that people want to hear about when talking about the Lord.
In fact the Lord Himself had many that followed Him for a season and
experienced the manifestation of the Spirit, yet how many were around come
the time of His crucifixion? There is a lot of feel good childish, and yes
foolish, doctrines being peddled and thrown out and about, and a lot of
childish foolish people are buying into them as well. Every one of us, like
it or not, needs to take up our own cross and crucify our own affections
and lusts which cause us to be misled and destroyed if continued in. So few
today preach and teach the importance of walking in the Spirit by ignoring
the lusts of the flesh; it is just not a popular doctrine anymore with
those that are being foolish.
Galatians 3:1-3 O foolish Galatians, who
hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes
Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? (2) This
only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law,
or by the hearing of faith? (3) Are ye so foolish? having begun in the
Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? (KJV)
It wasn’t your own thinking or ways that
got you into the kingdom of God in the first place was it? So with that in
mind, what made you think that your own foolish thoughts would keep you in
good standing with Him? Your own thoughts and ways didn’t get you into the
kingdom, but it is that foolish mindset that you allowed back in that will
get you out of His realm as quickly as you entered.
Galatians 3:4-5 Have ye suffered so many
things in vain? if it be yet in vain. (5) He therefore that ministereth to
you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of
the law, or by the hearing of faith? (KJV)
A good example of the foolishness that is
still bound in the heart of foolish people is clearly manifested by those
that still hold to the old law and its outward rituals, thinking that something
in the outward would ever bring restoration to the inward new creation in
Christ.
Ecclesiastes 10:12-14 The words of a wise
man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself. (13)
The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness: and the end of his
talk is mischievous madness. (14) A fool also is full of words: a man
cannot tell what shall be; and what shall be after him, who can tell him? (KJV)
Ever hear someone talk, and go on and on
and on, and in the end you left with more questions than answers? Sounds
like a lot of so called preachers today who are still bound by foolishness
because they never gave ear to the Lord’s correction.
