Walk This Way
Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore,
brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living
sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. (2)
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing
of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and
perfect, will of God. (KJV)
Thayer’s definition for ‘prove’:
1381
dokimazo-
1) to test, to
examine, to prove, to scrutinize (to see whether a thing is genuine or
not), as metals
2) to recognize
as genuine after examination, to approve, to deem worthy
You know, when you were an infant born
into this realm it took you a while to learn to walk, talk, and even
communicate in this realm. As a newborn in Christ, you basically have to
start the whole process all over again, this time through a new set of eyes
and ears; that being our Spiritual senses in order to learn to walk
effectively in the Spirit. Not only are we expected to change (transform)
but also to mature, proving what is really of God and what is not.
2 Corinthians 5:7-9 (For we walk by
faith, not by sight:) (8) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be
absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. (9) Wherefore we labour,
that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. (KJV)
All those years you ran around chasing
something you thought would bring peace and contentment in your life, just
didn’t happen did it? Now that you have found the only thing that will
bring peace and contentment in your life it is expected that you continue
on this path, because only a Spiritual path being led by our Lord will get
you to a Spiritual reward, that being your eternal inheritance into the
kingdom of God. So who or what is leading you this day; your old fallen
desires, or do you desire something else that even though it is not visible
to the outward man it is quite clear and real to the inward one?
Romans 8:12-14 Therefore, brethren, we
are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. (13) For if ye live
after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the
deeds of the body, ye shall live. (14) For as many as are led by the Spirit
of God, they are the sons of God. (KJV)
Again, we see our walk is one of faith,
being led by the Spirit of God and not by our outward eyesight any longer.
Is it always going to be an easy path to follow? No, not always, because we
have spent so much time in the past holding to those things that we could
see, hear, and touch in the outward that it’s hard and a total
contradiction to our carnal minds to hold to the unseen realm of God. But
hey, practice makes perfect people; the more you learn to be faithful and
walk by faith in the smaller areas the more prepared you will be for bigger
things that come along in your life. As infants one of the first things we
had to learn was to stand up and start walking. The same premise holds true
Spiritually. Which way are you walking today, right now?
