Outward Bound
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 For which cause we
faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed
day by day. (17) For our light affliction, which is but for a moment,
worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; (18) While
we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not
seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are
not seen are eternal. (KJV)
That outward realm, the one where our old
man and nature used to exist, that realm that kept us in bondage to the
flesh, that is something that should be perishing; like Paul said,
forgetting that way of life that was behind him, looking to the new life
that is in front of us. Now many of us can look in the mirror and see how
our outward man has and is perishing, however, in the Lord’s realm it
simply means our old ways of thinking or our old way of seeing should be dying
daily, now looking at life from the Lord’s perspective.
Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore,
brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living
sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. (2)
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing
of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and
perfect, will of God. (KJV)
When you come to the Lord seeking His
counsel have you already decided the outcome of your prayers and how you
think things should be run, or do you present yourself to God, ready,
willing and able to walk the path of life He asks of you this day no matter
where it leads? You know, if you really desire something new in your life,
if you really desire the Lord’s result to take place in your walk, then
doing the same old things with the same old mindset just won’t get it done
folks. It takes a constant renewing of your mind on a daily basis to walk a
new path that the Lord ordained for you to walk on; one He determined was
best for you before the foundation of this world. Are you ready for some
real change in your life with some real live results, knowing it came from
above and not just settling for second hand me down doctrines of men?
Strong’s definition for
‘transform’:
3339
metamorphoo (met-am-or-fo'-o); from 3326 and 3445; to transform
(literally or figuratively, "metamorphose"): KJV-- change, transfigure, transform.
People that keep doing the same carnal
things and then expect Spiritual results, well, we know that’s not going to
happen. If you desire something different in your walk with the Lord, that
being some confidence, boldness, and assurance that you are on the right
path, then that is only going to take place by a renewing of your mind so
that you can now see things from the Lord’s Spiritual viewpoint and no
longer bound by your limited outward sight and vision.
Thayer’s definition for ‘renewing’:
342
anakainosis- a renewal, renovation, complete change for the better
Your outward man, that old fallen one
should be dying off; no, not just the physical part but the way you used to
think and act. You should be seeing things from the Lord’s vantage point
which is located in the heavenly realm, above and beyond this limited
fallen one. Time to let the new man take over and have His way and keep
that old doubting fearful outward man bound up and buried. God bless and
keep renewed.
