Mashed Potatoes
Constant means to be, steadfast, firm,
not variable, continuous, faithful, steady, or unwavering. The opposite,
inconstant, means to be disloyal or fickle. Again, these definitions come
from Webster’s New American Dictionary copyright 1947.
1 Chronicles 28:7 Moreover I will
establish his kingdom for ever, if he be constant to do my
commandments and my judgments, as at this day. (KJV)
Isn’t this the same for us; if we will be
constant in doing all that God asks of us today, according to His Word, He
will establish us in His kingdom forever?
I was thinking about how you have to be
constant to get the results you desire, and not allowing your flesh to talk
you out of it. If you think about it, there are many who desire a closer
more intimate relationship with the Lord and a steady unwavering walk with
Him as well, but only a few are willing to put in the effort and time it
takes to bring it to pass. They want instant results without all the work,
like instant potatoes. Instead of taking the time to wash, peel, boil,
season, and mash the potatoes into something that can be savored and
desired time and time again.
Now, remember I am not talking potatoes;
I am talking about taking the time to allow the Word to wash away the dirt
and grime, to peel away the flesh, to refine and purify you, and season you
so that you are a sweet smelling savor unto God; transformed into something
that is pliable, ready to be shaped into whatever Spiritual form our Father
would have you to be in today so that you are ready and fit for His use; savored
by God, someone He desires to spend time with in fellowship again and
again.
Are you willing to be constant today so
that you can be established in His kingdom forever, and savored by Him for
eternity? Many are called but few are chosen. It is only those few who
desire to be mashed potatoes (so to speak) and allow Him to make them into
His image and likeness that will be chosen to enter into His kingdom.
