Gone In An Instant
Inconstant means to be disloyal or
fickle. Remember that constant means to be, steadfast, firm, not variable,
continuous, faithful, steady, or unwavering.
Don’t be as the many that are disloyal to
the Lord, fickle about what He asks of them. They are here today, gone
tomorrow; or more fitting, here now, gone in an instant. When persecution arises
for the Lord’s sake many run the other way, not willing to remain steady
and unwavering in the faith.
This is why you are encouraged to watch
and pray always so that you don’t end up as fickle as the many. It takes a
constant dose of the Word of God so that we are able to keep the flesh in
subjection to the Spirit. It is the flesh, our old nature that causes
fickleness in our life and sometimes our walk with the Lord if we are not
paying attention.
The encouragement for today is to continue
in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of
the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature
which is under heaven. This, so that you won’t be a fickle pickle which is
gone in an instant when persecution arises for the Lord’s sake, but remain firm
and steadfast in the faith for His sake, for those that hear and see you, and
for your sake as well unto the end.
Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye
enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is
weak. (KJV)
Luke 21:34-36 And take heed to
yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting,
and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you
unawares. (35) For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the
face of the whole earth. (36) Watch ye therefore, and pray always,
that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come
to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. (KJV)
Isaiah 50:7 For the Lord GOD will help
me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face
like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed. (KJV)
