An Eternal Loving Tolerant Father

Romans 5:6-8 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. (7) For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. (8) But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (KJV)

Those that are willingly ignorant point the finger at God and His people making claims of how intolerant they are. However, for those that have the eyes of their understanding enlightened to the truth, they realize what a longsuffering, patient, compassionate, and loving Father we really do serve. Are you aware of the fact that when you hold fast to sound doctrine, even something that is not popular in today’s fallen and pampered realm and yes, with many carnal baby Christians as well, you are in reality still demonstrating the love of God despite the sour reception?

2 Peter 3:8-9 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. (9) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (KJV)

Strong’s definition for ‘longsuffering’:

3114  makrothumeo (mak-roth-oo-meh'-o); from the same as 3116; to be long-spirited, i.e. (objectively) forbearing or (subjectively) patient: KJV-- bear (suffer) long, be longsuffering, have (long) patience, be patient, patiently endure.

Boy, I just don’t see where God is as intolerant as many try to claim Him to be; and anyone who goes against man and his fallen sinful nature is portrayed as intolerant as well. We only have a short time here on earth as compared to eternity, so all that God is asking us to do is to let go of our desires and lusts, and let His Spirit take over. Oh but how the enemy and his fallen followers do not like it when the truth is brought forth teaching the people the love of God which is in Christ. Many would rather embrace the lie and the fallen desires of the flesh, rather than rising up and overcoming them through the Spirit.

Psalms 86:15 But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth. (KJV)

Do you really want to be one of these people who will stand before God some day and try to tell Him how intolerant He and His people are? Ouch, that will leave an eternal mark. God is not moody like man, nor does He change with the times. Basically mankind is telling God that He is full of it; the only problem is they didn’t take the time or make it a priority to find out what He really is full of.

Numbers 14:18-19 The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation. (19) Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy mercy, and as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now. (KJV)

How longsuffering and of great mercy have we been; and how willing are we to forgive and forget as well; or do we still hang onto petty silly grudges that have nothing to do with salvation? Hold fast your profession of faith without wavering and continue to be an example of the believers, not just in talk but in the walk part also. In conclusion this week, don’t be taken in or duped by these deadbeats who think that just because you hold to sound doctrine you are not being tolerant. God has tolerated mankind and has done His part, now it’s time to return the favor. God bless and hold fast without wavering.
