What A Rejection!
Psalms 118:22-23 The stone which the
builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. (23) This is the
LORD's doing; it is marvellous in our eyes. (KJV)
The Bible is consistent throughout the
scriptures to warn us of a stone, the Head stone that makes the building
complete. The most important part of the building, the most important stone
that ties the whole thing tighter is refused, rejected by mankind and left
out. Do you know what, or should I say who that stone is so that you won’t
be rejecting the most important part of your salvation?
1 Peter 2:6-8 Wherefore also it is
contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone,
elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. (7) Unto
you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be
disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the
head of the corner, (8) And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence,
even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also
they were appointed. (KJV)
What a stone this is; in fact God refers
to this stone as precious, and yet as precious as this is to God, what an
insult it must be to see this stone disallowed, rejected and left out. I
would be willing to say that those that reject and leave this stone out of
their building, their prayers and teachings as well, will find themselves
rejected also come the day they seek their eternal inheritance.
2 Timothy 2:10-12 Therefore I endure all
things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which
is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. (11) It is a faithful saying: For if
we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: (12) If we suffer, we
shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: (KJV)
Strong’s definition for ‘deny’:
720
arneomai (ar-neh'-om-ahee); perhaps from 1 (as a negative particle)
and the middle voice of 4483; to contradict, i.e. disavow, reject,
abnegate: KJV-- deny, refuse.
Paul was stonewalled at times by the
hardness of the hearts of many who thought that they knew better than our
Lord on how His church would be built. Paul endured much affliction for the
gospel’s sake, teaching the people the doctrine of Christ and that upon His
name our Lord would build His church. Beware though, because Paul pointed
out quite clearly as well that if we deny or reject Him, that being Jesus
Christ, well then, we can expect the same in return; and that church we
claimed we were building on His behalf will not be considered one of His
buildings.
1 Peter 1:18-21 Forasmuch as ye know that
ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your
vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; (19) But with
the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without
spot: (20) Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world,
but was manifest in these last times for you, (21) Who by him do believe in
God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith
and hope might be in God. (KJV)
Here we see the word ‘precious’ again;
and once again, we see it involves Christ don’t we? Can you imagine
standing before our Father in heaven and having to explain to Him that what
He said is precious was something that you ignored and rejected? By Him,
and Him only, the rock solid name the Church is built upon, the one name
that provides us salvation, strength, deliverance, is left out by many,
which in turn leaves them on the outside also.
2 Peter 1:1-4 Simon Peter, a servant and
an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith
with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: (2) Grace
and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus
our Lord, (3) According as his divine power hath given unto us all things
that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that
hath called us to glory and virtue: (4) Whereby are given unto us exceeding
great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the
divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through
lust. (KJV)
What a precious gift of life that God
gave to mankind in the form of His Son Jesus Christ so that we could have
life through His name and have it more abundantly. A precious stone to
build His church upon is left out, rejected, and mistreated by those that
should be getting built up in the most holy faith, rather than knocked down
by their own cheap lusts.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 This know also, that in
the last days perilous times shall come. (2) For men shall be lovers of
their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to
parents, unthankful, unholy, (3) Without natural affection, trucebreakers,
false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, (4) Traitors,
heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; (5) Having
a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. (KJV)
The word ‘denying’ simply means
rejecting. Christ is the power and the wisdom of God, and what a thing to
be rejecting; because without Christ we can do nothing. Ever wonder why the
enemy of the Lord is described as antichrist? Well, no Christ, no power, no
wisdom from above, but rather a bunch of blind leading the blind into the
ditch.
2 Peter 2:1-2 But there were false
prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among
you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that
bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. (2) And many
shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth
shall be evil spoken of. (KJV)
Ever hear these people who pray in the
name of Jesus and leave the name of Christ out? A name our Lord described
as a precious stone left out and rejected. Sound trivial and petty? Well I
know that someday when you stand before the Lord and desire to hear your
name read from the Lamb’s book of life, that you wouldn’t desire to have your
name left out and not considered precious either.
