No Exceptions
Psalms 127:1 Except the LORD build the
house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city,
the watchman waketh but in vain. (KJV)
If you were to have a custom built home,
the way you desired for it to be built, then you would draw up a plan, a
blueprint of what you were looking for and how you would want that house
constructed. Now if you had paid a price to have this house built only to
find out that come the day of inspection it was nowhere near what you had intended
it would be safe to say that you would reject it, and not accept the end
result. Well Church, you are that building, you the people are the temple
of the living God, and He designed a plan, a blueprint for your life on how
it would be built and what He expected it to turn out to be come the day of
inspection. So anything less than what our Lord intended, anything other
than His design is unacceptable and will be rejected as well.
Matthew 16:16-18 And Simon Peter answered
and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. (17) And Jesus
answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and
blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. (18)
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will
build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (KJV)
Unto Peter was revealed a name, and much
more than just any name, but one that is referred to as a rock, something
or should I say someone to build a solid foundation upon. If one takes
notice of verse 18, the Lord is quite specific to point out that ‘He’,
singular, would be the builder and the gates of hell would not prevail
against His structure. Are you allowing the Lord and His Word to build you up
daily, or are you falling apart because you thought you could cut corners
and find an easier way to construct His Church?
1 Peter 2:4-5 To whom coming, as unto a
living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, (5)
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy
priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus
Christ. (KJV)
Let’s keep in mind the fact that you are
the church of God, not some building or organization, but you personally
are that building, a spiritual one, one that should be worshipping our Lord
in Spirit and in truth. As we see in verse 4, mankind does not desire to
allow the Lord to build their church, but rather they have disallowed and
rejected His counsel and wisdom.
1 Peter 2:6-8 Wherefore also it is
contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone,
elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. (7) Unto
you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be
disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the
head of the corner, (8) And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence,
even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also
they were appointed. (KJV)
This stone that is being left out and
rejected (keep in mind that we are referring to a Spiritual stone); the Rock
that mankind keeps rejecting and leaving out of their buildings, something
that is definitely in the Lord’s blueprint. And oooops, looks like the people
in verse 7 are subcontracting, bringing in other builders when the Lord was
quite specific to point out that He would be the one doing the building. In
fact our Lord lets us know and has warned us about many subcontractors,
false prophets, that don’t operate according to the truth of God’s
blueprint, but rather bring in many false doctrines which are substandard
and will not pass our Lord’s inspection.
Acts 4:10-12 Be it known unto you all,
and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of
Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him
doth this man stand here before you whole. (11) This is the stone which was
set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. (12)
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under
heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (KJV)
We see again a name, only one name that
we can truly allow the Lord to build us up with, and establish a true solid
relationship with Him, that being Jesus Christ. Once ones rejects this
name, a rock solid cornerstone, then they have gone outside of the plan of
salvation, the Spiritual blueprint that was established and drawn up for
you personally before the foundation of this world. You wonder why at times
you doubt or even have entered the realm of fear, well you have obviously
been leaving Christ out of your priorities and are trying to construct a
building that is substandard, and far below the code our Lord intended to
build in you.
1 Corinthians 3:9-11 For we are labourers
together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. (10) According
to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I
have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man
take heed how he buildeth thereupon. (11) For other foundation can no man
lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. (KJV)
Williams New Testament translation
of 1Corinthians 3:9-11
9. for we belong to God as His
fellow-workers; you belong to God as His field to be tilled, as His
building to be built. 10. As a
skilled architect, in accordance with God's unmerited favor given to me, I
laid a foundation, and now another is building upon it. But every builder must be careful how he
builds upon it; 11. for no one can lay any other foundation than the one
that is laid, that is, Jesus Christ Himself.
As a wise master builder, are you taking
the time daily to hear for yourself the Lord’s spiritual blueprint of how
He desires for you, His building, to be built up, or are you taking advice
from other builders who are blind and in the dark? In conclusion today,
there is no other foundation that the Lord will build on than that which is
Jesus Christ, because anything else is substandard, and there are no exceptions.
