A Secret Hid

Matthew 6:3-6 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: (4) That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. (5) And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. (6) But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. (KJV)

As we see clearly illustrated in the above verses, each and every individual needs to do their own inventory concerning their motives for why they are serving the Lord, and who are they trying to please, God or man. We also see that the Lord describes Himself as well as His plan of salvation as a secret, something hidden or concealed, yet now something readily available to those that are truly seeking. So do you know how to access this God who sees in secret, and how to operate effectively in His realm, or are you more hit and miss, like throwing dice hoping for a good roll rather than knowing and expecting a victorious outcome?

2 Corinthians 4:3-6 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: (4) In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. (5) For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. (6) For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. (KJV)

One of the definitions of the word ‘hid’ means to keep secret or concealed. So obviously if something is still a secret to someone, keep in mind that we are now referring to a Spiritual secret, then they obviously are not looking to this realm to find the answer but rather blindly groping around in the fallen carnal realm thinking they will find the solution. Jesus Christ is the Spiritual light that will enlighten you and allow you access to this hidden realm of the Spirit so that you can know for yourself the answer to this eternal secret, the answer you will need to give if you desire entrance into your eternal inheritance.

Colossians 2:1-3 For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh; (2) That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; (3) In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. (KJV)

Strong’s definition for ‘hid’:

614  apokruphos (ap-ok'-roo-fos); from 613; secret; by implication, treasured:

KJV-- hid, kept secret.

The more Paul would preach and teach Christ, the more of God it would reveal to people, thus why he suffered so much conflict from the enemy, that being the spirit of antichrist who did all he could to keep this secret from being revealed to God’s people. The more you know of Christ, the more you will be able to operate in this hidden wisdom and knowledge from above; no longer relying on your carnal sight but able to operate with the mind of Christ yourself. Quite simply put, if you know Christ then you know how to access God and know for yourself the secret of God, and how to share it with His people.

Isaiah 45:1-3 Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut; (2) I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron: (3) And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel. (KJV)

Who would you tell a secret to? Most likely someone you could trust with that secret. While you wouldn’t go out and tell everyone your pin number to your bank account, there are a few that you may give this information out to that you know you can trust and who will use it for the right reasons. Spiritually the same principle holds true; the Lord reveals His secret to a few because basically there are only a few that He knows who have the right motives and intents of the heart, those that are more concerned with accessing and sharing His spiritual treasures and not so wrapped up and entangled with the carnal treasures.

Colossians 1:25-28 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God; (26) Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: (27) To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: (28) Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: (KJV)

Strong’s definition for ‘mystery’:

3466  musterion (moos-tay'-ree-on); from a derivative of muo (to shut the mouth); a secret or "mystery" (through the idea of silence imposed by initiation into religious rites): KJV-- mystery.

This mystery, this Spiritual secret, has been hid but now is readily available to those that seek to worship our Father in Spirit and according to His truth, which as we see again involves a working knowledge of Christ. Verse 28 makes reference to teaching in all wisdom, not just the wisdom of this fallen realm but now a wisdom from above, a secret Spiritual wisdom that will make those that hear it perfect, mature. This wisdom, this secret, is only available to those in Christ and those that know His name.
