A Faithful Father
2 Thessalonians 3:3-5 But the Lord is
faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. (4) And we have
confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things
which we command you. (5) And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of
God, and into the patient waiting for Christ. (KJV)
Strong’s definition for ‘faithful’:
4103 pistos (pis-tos'); from 3982;
objectively, trustworthy; subjectively, trustful: KJV-- believe (-ing, -r),
faithful (-ly), sure, true.
When watching programs or listening to
testimonies of troubled people, many times they trace their problems back
to a parent, one who was not there for them growing up; someone they could
not rely on. As a child of God, re-born into the realm of the Spirit, that
is no longer the case; because you now have access to a Father that is
there, available, in fact has been around and will be around for an
eternity. God is faithful, reliable and trustworthy, and now expects us to
be faithful in return, learning to walk by faith and no longer rely on the
senses of our old carnal nature.
Philippians 1:3-6 I thank my God upon
every remembrance of you, (4) Always in every prayer of mine for you all
making request with joy, (5) For your fellowship in the gospel from the
first day until now; (6) Being confident of this very thing, that he which
hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus
Christ: (KJV)
Unlike parents in the flesh, sad to say
many of them today are deadbeats who show up for the conception part but
are no shows when it comes to the responsibility end of the bargain, God is
faithful. As we see in the above verses, God uses His people to pray for
others, to watch out for His people and to be there to deliver a message of
comfort and love when needed. God has begun a good work in you, and would
like to see it brought to completion, maturing and growing up into Him in
all things in Christ. The question now becomes, will you be faithful in the
things that He provided for your Spiritual welfare, and follow through with
your commitment to Him? God is the author and finisher of our faith through
His Son, Jesus Christ; so what He began in you has an eternal ending of joy
if you are willing to follow His script.
Hebrews 13:5-6 Let your conversation be
without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he
hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (6) So that we may
boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto
me. (KJV)
Do you consider your walk with the Lord a
partnership, a joint participation, so that you know boldly that the Lord
is your helper, or has doubt and fear crept back in because you haven’t
taken the time to hear His message of faith? Our walk with the Lord on this
planet is like an engagement, someday there will be a marriage for all
eternity for those that are faithful to the end. Keep in mind though, that
those that stray from the plan of salvation are considered cheaters, and
won’t be allowed into the marriage feast. God is faithful on His end and
said He would not leave nor forsake us, but it doesn’t say you can’t take a
hike and forsake Him; which according to the Word many have, because they
were not faithful.
Psalms 119:88-91 Quicken me after thy
lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth. (89) For ever,
O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven. (90) Thy faithfulness is unto all
generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth. (91) They
continue this day according to thine ordinances: for all are thy servants. (KJV)
Quicken means to make alive, to restore,
and bring life to. What are you relying on today to bring life to you? The
bread alone and the things of this carnal realm, or are you truly relying
on the Word of God to bring life and to make real and alive to you
personally the things of His realm? Jesus Christ is the same yesterday,
today, and forever; He is someone that can be relied on to bring you a
message of faith so that in turn you can be faithful as well.
Lamentations 3:22-25 It is of the LORD's
mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. (23) They
are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. (24) The LORD is my
portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. (25) The LORD is good
unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. (KJV)
You may have had people in your past that
have failed you, and as humans we have all sinned and fell short of the
glory of God. With a new found life in Christ, and a faithful Father that we
can come to in time of need, it is time to forget those things which are
behind and learn to trust in what is in front of us and will be for all
eternity. God bless, stay faithful.
